I was scheduled for an eye surgery by this surgeon. I.V. was Inserted and a series of eye drops were put into my affected eye. At some point, past surgery start time, the doctor informed me that they’ve yet to receive approval from the insurance company. After some waiting time, it was apparent I wasn’t going to get it done as planned. A day later, I’ve called my insurance company, and was informed the surgeon’s office submitted the request on Saturday, hoping to get approved by Monday morning, which was a national holiday. They had almost a week time, to submit but neglected to do so until the weekend, just before the procedure. Such an incompetence, having a client rearrange their life around, only to find out they didn’t do their job early enough, to properly accommodate the scheduled client. I believe, when there’s some negligence, it most likely present in all other aspects of the practice. It would be appropriate, letting the patient know during the registration process… that you’re still waiting on approval, or even better, the night before the scheduled procedure.
