Dr. Alan Edward Oester JR., MD

I'm thinking these reviewers cannot have seen the same Dr. Alan Oester I saw and who did my surgery. I found him to be very compassionate, thorough, and knowledgeable. He explains exactly what I should expect of the surgery while giving me confidence that all would be well. I'm 82 years old and needed the surgery to improve my vision which was obstructed by both my upper eyelids and complicated by my lower lids. I had had a cosmetic lift on both about 20 years ago which I had been happy with, but this was more of a medical procedure. I certainly understand someone not wanting to look completely different, but as we age our skin and muscle structure naturally limit our choices somewhat. If I could give him more stars for both performance and his manner with patients, I would do so, this from someone who has recently moved her from CA, the land of plastic surgery. If you want to see some bungled surgeries, take a look around CA. That's not to say that there are not some great… surgeries done there also, but we are very fortunate to have Dr. Oester here in Wilmington.

I went in because my eyelashes cause a lot of irritation and they come out. He accused me of having a compulsion of pulling them and when I said I didn’t, he said “do you realize you pull at them a lot?” I’ll find someone else.

When I first saw Dr. Oester for this procedure, I told him that I did not want to look different from what I had looked most of my life. I have always had hooded eye lids. I told him that I wanted the lid to be lifted from my eyelashes about l/8 inch. When I went for my follow up visit and was asked if I was happy with the surgery, I said I was not. Dr. Oester showed me the before and after and I still said I was not happy. Too much was lifted, l/4 inch and I looked different than I ever had. He said "you must be one of those people who is never happy with anything". I got up and left.
