Dr. Brian Eugene Nichols, MD

I thought the initial staff assessment and the pre-surgery discussion with Dr. Nichols were professional and pleasant. The actual surgery process (checkin, surgery, & post-surgery visit) was (again) professional and pleasant. I am very happy with the result.

We waited an hour and a half for an evaluation of our 7 month old daughter and was told that her vision looked fine and to come back 6 months for a follow up appointment. A few weeks later I still had concerns and called to schedule an earlier follow up appointment and was told there was no availability for over 2 months. I ended up taking my daughter to an optometrist that is part of the InfantSEE program (free evaluations for any child under 12 months) and she was diagnosed as being extremely farsighted during the first appointment. A week later she got glasses and it has changed her life (she has caught up in gross and fine motor development and is so much happier and more engaged). I disappointed that Dr. Nichols missed such an obvious case of farsightedness, especially because of the profound change I have witnessed in my daughter since she got glasses. Based on my limited experience, I would not recommend Dr. Nichols and would recommend infants be screened by someone trained… in InfantSEE program.

We came to see Dr. Nichols with our 3 month old. The office staff was down right rude and snobbish. When we finally got in for our appointment, we were told that our baby needed glasses. That was fine, but he was so rushed that we barley got an explanation much less get questions answered. We were not satisfied and ended up getting a second opinion. We now drive an hour to see another pediatric eye doctor...and have been for two years now with frequent appointments. I think that says it all.

First of all, we have been going to Dr. Nichols for almost 5 years. During this time we have never been seen within 40 minutes of our appt. time - It's usually an hour wait time which is really hard with 2 kids. The second issue is the office staff, they remind me of little high school girls gossiping all of the time, it's just a very unprofessional office atmosphere. I've been treated like I'm an inconvenience to them, it's almost as if they get mad that you're interrupting their gossip session. With that said, we decided to switch offices and I'm so glad we did!
