Too begin a journey that would change your life forever is scary. But not under the care of Dr Mathew and his PA Charles. Never did I feel like a paycheck but unique. I was treated and based on me. I went into surgery with realization and knowledge for my recovery and mines only. Thank you Dr Mathew And Charles. You won't find a better team of professionals!

After seeing Dr. Mericle and his NP, I thought I was in good hands. Had hope after suffering from back problems since age 12, and severe bilateral carpal tunnel. They were extremely attentive, and spent time pinpointing my issues and planned for surgery. After seeing Dr Mathews, I am absolutely appalled. He was inappropriate asking questions about my body and personal life, but did not address or even listen to what I was saying in regards to my back and hand issues. Even questioned my diagnoses made BY HIS OWN GROUP!! First thing he looked at was a scar on my chest. He asked me "are you a cutter?" Firstly, I didn't know how this pertained to my back, second no it was actually from a traumatic experience I'd rather not discuss! He went on to dismiss my complicated case, saying nothing could be done except more PT, more injections, more pain management. He took every bit of hope I had to finally get relief. I explained I am a single mother of three. He asked "different dads?" I am… absolutely hurt and discouraged. I thought I had found a place that would help me get to the bottom of this ongoing debilitating condition. Back to square one I guess. Hope he doesn't mess up my application for disability!! Simply because he felt he had better things to do!!

Dr Mathews spent time with me to go over my condition and explain the surgery as well as other treatment options. His staff was very good. I felt much better about having him treat me than another doctor I visited at another spinal clinic.

Dr. Douglas Matthews, was my Angell unaware. I was rear ended in a car wrecked and I saw several doctors, physical therapist and neither one saw my condition nor acted like it was real until my dics ruptured (fluids running up & down my spine). Then I saw Dr. Sean Kirby and he sent me by ambulance to St. Thomas Hospital, I was on antibiotics for 3 days, Dr. Kirby ordered an XRay he referred me to Dr. Matthews. The first time I saw Dr. Matthews he was like you need surgery a.s.a.p. He was like I can fix this and he showed me the MRI, I saw for myself what the other doctors didn't see because they never ordered an X Ray or MRI. Dr. Matthews assured me that I would be better close to 75% and with any surgery there are risks associated with foreign objects/ devices in the body. WHEN I WOKE FROM SUGERY AFTER THE RECOVERY, I KNEW SOMETHING HAD CHANGED. MY SISTER TOLD THR NURSE IT WAS THE MORPHINE, NOPE, THAT NERVE PAIN WASN'T THERE . ( I HAD BEEN TAKING STRONG MEDS AND WAS STILL IN… SEVERE PAIN.)It's been 12 yrs and I am right where I should be, I'm able to get up & down by myself, take care of my personal needs, drive. Glory to the Lord. I still check in with Dr. Matthews whenever I feel like it. He runs tests and assures me that my lumbar is doing fine. I referred my sister and she was like me we "APPRECIATE DR. DOUGLAS MATTHEWS. "

Dr. Matthews and his FNP Charles are superb. Had a couple appointment mixups, but would efer this office to anyone.

Dr. Doom all but gave my mother a death sentence her first day in the hospital. This blank had me in tears and the rest of my family distraught. He's a coward and disrespectful to patients and loved ones. Hopefully karma is real and he gets his piece. If he's you're doctor, ignore every bad thing that comes out of his mouth. Doctors should be compassionate, but this guy lacks any common sense and has diarrhea of the mouth.
