Dr. Jeffrey Roy Gagliano, MD

I would never recommend Dr. Gagliano to anyone. Dr. Gagliano is one of the worst doctors I have ever spoken with. Bedside manner is almost non existent. Dr. Gagliano did not introduce himself. He appeared frustrated that I was still filling out the paperwork, I was told by the Medical Assistant to complete it in the exam room. He did not seem to be interested in learning about me as a patient/person. I attempted to provide a very detailed and thorough medical background in the paperwork I was asked to fill out. I know doctors do not always have a lot of time to get to know patients on an initial encounter and wanted to try to provide as much information as possible. I had a MRI done before seeing Dr. Gagliano. The MRI report seemed to coincide with what the two other doctors and PA I had seen said, muscle tear and strained surrounding muscles. I was taken to get X-rays before he would see me (I wasn't given a choice). I was told that I "should be healed by now." I tried to explain that… overall, I tend to heal slower than what may be "typical." I am still not outside of the average recovery period for a muscle strain/tear. Dr. Gagliano got very defensive and said, "I am the orthopedic surgeon." He then proceeded to instruct me to go get a STAT ultrasound because he suspected a blood clot as the cause of my ongoing pain. I asked if he had seen the MRI that was done, he replied, "Yes, I did." He had not mentioned reviewing the MRI or any of the findings from it. His final words to me were, "if it's a blood clot, it could break off and go to your lungs and you'll die." There are many skilled and competent orthopedic surgeons in Boulder, I would not recommend seeing Dr. Gagliano unless you absolutely have to. I did not have a blood clot.

Impersonal and unhelpful

I went to see Dr. Gagliano after a car accident and had a referral from the ER across the street. My shoulder was still bothering me from where the seat belt hit when the car rolled. He told me that the MRI’s are not reliable and to go home and ice my shoulder. Turns out I needed two tendons reworked and my labrum fixed, I went to front range orthopedics clinic and had surgery the next day. Man I sure hope someone investigates this piece of work, he could really hurt someone.

Never in my entire life have I ever encountered such a dis- interested, rude and Do Nothing Doctor. He could not bother to say Hello and introduce himself. Was very unfriendly, does not smile, does nothing to put a patient at ease.. just an awful experience. He absolutely could care less, totally discounted the discomfort and pain I have been experiencing for weeks. Offered no relief at all; and I’m not talking pain meds.. How about taping my foot so I could get the heck out of there. NOPE!.. just told to go home and Buddy Tape my own toes. How about the Doctor tape my toes, or have his PC tape them. It was very painful limping out to my car but I literally could not wait to get out of there. When I asked if I should return in 2 weeks if pain doesn’t improve , I was told NO. He said wait 8 weeks before returning. 2 months!.. not a drop of compassion. I took away only strong fit people are worth his time. This is a Specialist! I could of received more compassionate care from a… Walgreens onsite Clinic. I can only hope and pray he read my X-ray accurately. I just cannot understand how a wonderful longtime practice (Used to be OPA) with fabulous doctors like David Grauer and Michael Wertz are now in practice with this man. I need to find a new practice. I will not be returning. I hesitated to write this review, but I’m literally still stewing over this experience and decided writing this may help me move on and prevent another person from having an experience with this man.

Had a rorator cuff tear, he failed to Dx and called a baby to complain about pain. Refuse to order an MRI (because they are inaccurate ??) and send me home with Advil and ice! Went to Cornerstone orthopedic the Same day and they DX right away and surgery.

I had a ski accident that led to a total rotator cuff tear plus 3 ligaments tears. I saw Dr Gagliano a day after my accident. He examined me and decided I was too strong to have ripped anything, he also said he believes MEI to be inaccurate and didn’t order any, called me a drug seeker for complaining about pain and told me to just ice it. I went to Steadman Clinic the next t day, they immediately Dx the multiple tears and rushed me to surgery. Dr Gagliano is not only incomplete he is dangerous and simply should not be practicing.

Dr. Jeff Gagliano has been my surgeon for 2+ years. His expertise and care are beyond superb. He explained my surgery, the expected recovery and was sincere in his concern for my well-being. He has went out of his way to assist in the massive amount of paperwork required by my insurance carriers. Dr. Gagliano answered my questions completely as did his staff; specifically Mr. Jeff Buck and his MA, Jamie. Gui, an outstanding PT, is also on staff. Dr. Gagliano is a surgeon I am highly recommending.

I've seen Dr Gagliano several times for a variety of things, including surgery on my shoulder (which did wonders). Not only is he smart, professional, and patient, but he often goes well beyond expectations in terms of explaining things and providing what's needed to recover (in comparison to other surgeons I have had). A great guy. Highly recommended. His staff (e.g., PT) is also awesome.

I have taken both of my children to Dr. Gagliano for various injuries. He is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He laid out alternatives for us in an easy to understand way. On top of that, he is a great surgeon!

Dr. Gagliano is very thorough and accurate in his diagnosis. He took the time we (myself and my 12 year old daughter) needed to understand what was going on and how to treat it. He suggested ways to alleviate the pain and long term solutions that have really worked. Our family has used him for various orthopedic problems and have been very happy with the results. I would recommend Dr. Gagliano and choose to go back to him in the future.
