Dr. Lane Darin Spero, MD

Terrible service, I have awful experience with him. He not even check my back and make me waiting for a long time.

Not a lot of information provided regarding next steps following surgury. Dr Spero is a ghost, hidden behind rude phone calls from staff, appts with APs vs him. Following surgury, incredibility unhelpful regarding pain management, ignoring requests for refills and leaving a voicemail message stating, "Dr Spero says your 100% healed so you don't need narcotics." Surgery was 10 weeks ago.. haven't seen Spero... but he knows I am healed. Not a good healing experience at any point in time. Go somewhere else!

Dr. Spero has changed my life! I had two lumbar surgeries as they were part of a two part fusion with 10 days in between each. Unfortunately, as workers comp would rather take the less expensive route and keep me in pain management rather than approve the surgery I slowly became bed ridden from 60% to 80% to being bed ridden 100% of the time 6 weeks prior to surgery. I had my first two level lumbar fusion with a neurosurgeon in 2009 and when things didn’t go as he expected he stopped seeing me. I was referred to Dr. Spero by my mom who had a lumbar fusion with him and she was like new. So, he has been treating me on and off for the past 8 years from PT, epidurals, and facet injections. He’s is easy to speak with, he’s a great listener, he’s empathetic, he’s patient, as well as compassionate and caring!! He has prescribed me pain medication in the past when I first started seeing him and then of course following the surgeries. He has NEVER treated me like a drug seeker and… unfortunately in this day and age given the recent epidemic with narcotic use I get treated like that often. Also, I have never found him to be pompous or curt as some of the other reviews had noted. I’ve never felt rushed nor have I had to wait long at my appointments. With regard to the appointments, Dr. Spero always gives me his undivided attention and explains everything from my test results to treatment options, whether conventional, surgical, and or pharmaceutical thoroughly and patiently. Also, there have been times when I have contacted the on-call service and Dr. Spero returns the calls ASAP. Finally, doing the fusion in two parts greatly reduces the amount of pain rather than doing everything all at once and I can tell you from experience that this surgical technique or option was far less painful than the prior fusion that was performed in one surgery. I was up and walking, with a walker, for short distances the 1st day following both of Dr. Spero’s surgeries. I couldn’t have been happier!! He has given me back my legs, quality of life, my smile, time with my family, and has returned a great deal of my functionality! I have my life back so in my book he truly is the BEST!!!!

This guy hurries you along to being cut. Has PA's who dispense meds which make the patient sick. If you need spine surgery, GET A SECOND OR THIRD opinion before you have anything done.

This guy uses 1 or 2 PA's who will order an antibiotic that can make you very, very sick.

After years of pain and several doctors I wasn't comfortable with, I was referred to Dr. Spero by a friend who had recently had surgery by him. He didn't rush me into surgery and we tried some more conservative treatments first but when it was clear that surgery was the best option for me I trusted his recommendation and am so happy after years of suffering. He explained everything to me so I knew what to expect. His office staff was very helpful and courteous in scheduling my follow up appointments and in making sure my post-op medication was ready for me.

POMPOUS, NON-CARING, DON'T EVER TRY TO REACH HIM FOR A CALL OR QUESTION...BETTER LUCK REACHING THE POPE...NO HUMAN CARING OR KINDNESS

I think it was in 2005 I had neck and lumbar fusion After one year they failed. His office refused me counsel because i did not have the money. I think after doing two surgeries he should automatically see me and tell me to my face nothing more can be done and he was unable to fix my problem. Thank you for disabling me and leaving me in the lurk.

I want to praise Doctor Lane Spero. My elderly father-in-law had very complicated spine surgery with him and not only was he patient and helpful in explaining all the risks to us in operating on someone of his age, but Dr. Spero visited him in the nursing home afterwards. I am happy to report that my father-in-law is walking around pain free for the first time in about 20 years thanks to Dr. Spero's surgical expertise. We are so happy with the care we received.

It was the worst thing I could have done is to have Dr. Spero operate on me. He screwed me up worse then when I went in. I no for a fact that this Dr. prescribes pain medication to himself after his accident. When the patient needs it due to horrible pain he's told he can't have anything cause I'll get addicted to them. So he'd rater let me suffer after his screw up. Anyone needing any type of back neck or arm operation should go to someone other then Dr. Spero. Stay away from him.
