Lee Selznick, MD

I have had chronic back issues for decades, and finally was referred to Dr Selznick for possible corrective surgery. My wife and I met with him, and had a frank discussion about my condition and possible surgeries. He scheduled an MRI and followup appointment to discuss my options. He was frank, compassionate and honest in his assessment of my conditions and the potential risks of surgery. Surgery was scheduled and although it was difficult, it went as Dr Selznick described and throughout, he and his staff were amazing. Before I met Dr Selznick, I could not walk from bed to the kitchen, or stand for more than a few minutes. Now, my life is mostly normal, walking three miles a day. Dr Selznick changed my life, and I cannot recommend him strongly enough. Thanks Dr S!

Dr Selznick did surgery to put in a Neuropace, and about a month later I had a CSF leak. When surgery was done to fix that, it was found I had an infection. I was given a PICC line for that. After fixing the CSF leak, I had ongoing pain (in tears daily, multiple trips to the ER where nobody knew what to do). I saw Dr Selznick, told him of the ongoing pain and how I was having to take 3 ibuprofen every 6 hours, and he said I was ADDICTED to ibuprofen. I was at a loss as to what to do. Thankfully, I moved out of state and, 6 MONTHS later, after continuously taking ibuprofen every 6 hours because I didn't know what else to do (and damaged kidneys as a result) and multiple trips to the ER, I saw a neurologist where I now live who determined I had an infection and scheduled surgery immediately. He was right. I DID have an INFECTION. My neurosurgeon here in NC questioned why the Neuropace wasn't removed immediately when the first infection was found. (Dr Couture--he's been great!) I was… literally taking less ibuprofen *immediately after* that craniotomy than I was constantly the months prior to it. I question if I'd be alive if I hadn't moved and seen a different doctor.

Three Mayo Clinic neuros diagnosed my NPH and recommended a shunt. Dr. Selznik was closer to home and more convenient, but refused to do the operation, claiming I'd be dead in 3-6 months if he did. I went back to Mayo, had the op, and am much better. I'm still here, and still baffled by Dr. Selznick's dire diagnosis.

This is the first day in well over 5 years that I have woken up without back pain. Thank you Dr. Selznick for helping me!

I saw Dr. Selznick last December. He identified two problems from my MRI. He was honest in that my other health issues precluded fixing both. He suggested which problem to fix first and the procedure was scheduled quickly. The outcome has been great and my hand pain is now manageable.

A good experience. My first visit. Nice and explained things thoroughly so I could understand them.

Life changing, for the good!

After having a stimulator installed 2 times and still not working properly. Dr. Selznick went in and corrected all wiring and created a new pocket for the battery and it has worked better than ever.
