Dr. Rami Joseph Elkhechen, MD

On May 5, 2020, I was in a traumatic car accident and was air lifted to Saint Mary's Trauma unit with a broken arm and other serious injuries. I needed emergency surgery and the hospital assured me that I was in good hands with the orthopedic surgeon on call: Dr. Elkhechen. He was so gentle and reassuring to me before and after my two surgeries. During my follow up visits, it was discovered that there wasn't adequate àutomobile insurance coverage and my health insurance company did not want to pay for my injuries. I was so distraught and began crying as I explained to Dr. Elkhechen my situation. He continued to treat me and told me that everything will work out and for me not worry. He made me feel so special. He was the surgeon at the time my son broke his leg and went to St Mary’s pediatric emergency room the hospital was in network but he was a out of network no one told us . He was paid by my insurance company and the hospital but his office Orthopedic care specialists want 10 times the amount slotted for the in network treatment.He is balance billing us for over 21,000.00 very unethical practice stay away!.He has already been paid according to the hospital and my insurance company 7648.44...but I was told he can bill what he wants.

I have suffered for 7 months on the workman's comp hamster wheel. Although I have tests, scans, MRI's injury pictures and tons of pain from multiple areas of injury to verify that my 8 foot fall actually harmed me, I was told I was 100% okay by two other doctors who spent less than a minute with me and didn't listen. Still using a walker with a long road of recovery ahead, and feeling like hope is fleeting... Dr. Elkhechen is the only physician Traverler's insurance sent me to, who took the time to review those things, listen to my concerns, track my pain. He was proactive to move forward to seek solutions through Physical therapy and treatment. I am so grateful that he treated me with just as much compassion and respect as a wealthy patient or one who's insurance covers without argument or interference. Very smart, explained diagnosis in detail, and provided clear path to get back to sports, working out, work, and life. Surgery for ACL and meniscus was a complete success. Will return to this Dr. and facility for future ortho /sports problems for me and my family. Was especially happy with the amount of face time, considering how dr's are booked tight these days.
