Dr. Stephen Chow, MD

87 year old patient, unable to walk or sit due to back and hip pain. Dr took an immediate negative view of patient and her advocate. Interrupted answers to his questions, verbally attacked advocate numerous times, didn’t even examine patient. Referred to pain management, ordered CT of back and told us - good luck getting an appt with pain management. After seeing a PA at pain management, being examined by that PA, and more appropriate testing, three fractures in the pelvis were causing patient’s pain. If Dr Chow had bothered to examine patient, it could have been correctly diagnosed sooner. Will never submit patient to Dr Chow’s arrogant ego again. Have a new orthopedic who is compassionate and listens.

Failed full hip replacement.. had a hip replacement with Dr cell had a hip replacement with dr. Chow after 3 months after three months it started slipping out and coming out it started slipping out and coming out! And his office won't see me now! And his office won't see me now can you believe it! can you believe it! I have to have another doctor replace my hip replacement! Dr. Chow does not help with pain after your surgery with pain after your surgery either, has no compassion, terrible bedside manner, 64 years old never seen a worse 64 years old never seen a worse doctor!!

Not only did Dr. Chow address my back and neck issues, he was instrumental in getting me in touch with a a top-rated cardiologist with an appointment the next day. Dr. Chow is not the doctor to see if you are just looking for pills, but if you need someone who will take the time to listen, evaluate and explain in layman's terms his findings, then he is the one. I found Dr. Chow to be attentive, compassionate and right on with his diagnosis and treatment.

Although I was apprehensive about having my knee replaced in the upper desert, I followed my Primary Physician's advice and went to Dr. Chow. He is an extremely competent surgeon, did a phenomenal job and was very patient with my difficult recovery. I was unable to jump right in on my in-home therapy because of my age and shortness of breath, so he sent me to an outpatient physical therapy clinic, Hudson & Walker, and I have never been in more capable hands. The therapy went well and I am able to walk like I have not walked for more than ten years. I had my other knee done in Idaho thirteen years ago, so I am able to make a first hand comparison between the two. If I had a third knee and an unlimited choice of who I would want for a surgeon and therapist, I would choose Dr. Chow, to do my surgery and Robert Walker as my therapist, without a doubt. If professional competency is your desire, you should choose them, as well.

Am loathe to write a bad review however if this can save someone the embarrassment, inconvenience, waste of time and anger, so be it. I read Dr. Chow's reviews and was aware of his rudeness. I also was aware of the fact that he is a good surgeon and to me that was bottom line. However after ten minutes of bullying, body shaming and down right rudeness.... how could I let this man cut me? Have experienced bone on bone knee pain for five years and through other procedures including physical therapy, stem cell replacement and injections still suffer from intense pain. My tiny little legs are bowed due to the deformity and Dr. Chow asked: " Where did you park your horse?" How rude!! How mean! And how unprofessional. He handed me a booklet, told me to read it and come back in six weeks with any questions. When we asked if surgery could wait til the pool we were building was completed to help with rehab, he said with a smirk ." I don't care if you wait til the sky is the shade of blue you… like. Get clearance from your Primary and a cardiologist and we'll see when we can schedule you." Was I being over sensitive? My insurance company who urged me to file a grievance does not think so and is hoping a disciplinary action will taken against this doctor who has no clue or care what patient care is.

Dr. Chow is an amazing Surgeon and an incredible person. I had been wrestling with arthritis in my right knee for years. My family doctor sent me to Dr. Chow for a consultation. After checking x-rays and an MRI, a knee replacement was very obviously the path to take. Dr. Chow scheduled the surgery. However, before the surgery date, my knee failed. I fell, crushing my hip. Dr. Chow pieced my hip back together,” just like a jig saw puzzle”, thus saving me from a hip replacement. He guided me through my recuperation until I was in condition for the knee replacement. I have had first hand experience of how skilled this surgeon is and of the respect that is shown to him by those in the medical field who work with him. From the nurses in the hospital to the X-Ray Technicians to the Physical Therapists, all have utmost respect for Dr. Chow. My nurses told me that they are always grateful when they are caring for one of Dr. Chow’s patients because his orders and so detailed and… exact that there is never any room for doubt. The people who took my x-rays were so careful to be certain that everything was done just to Dr. Chow’s specifications. When I went for therapy, again they knew what Dr. Chow would want and strived to please both Dr. Chow and me. His staff is everything you could hope for …but often do not experience in a medical office. Anytime I left a message or had a question I had a response in a most timely manner. Dr. Chow takes his profession quite seriously, as you would pray that your surgeon would. However, he also has a marvelous dry sense of humor…and once you have caught your breath, you totally look forward to your office visits with him. I have a hip that is well and strong and a knee that works as a knee should. Something I had not experienced in years. And, as a bonus, my other knee which had displayed symptoms advancing arthritis has felt the benefit of having strength returned to my right knee and is now equally strong and healthy.

Dr Chow is amazing!! He really took the time with me today and finally gave me a correct diagnosis on my knee. He was very kind and took his time with me. Awesome doc and the staff in his office are very sweet. Thank you

After a knee replacement by a different surgeon on my right leg had many problems I was really nervous about having a knee replacement on my left leg but Dr Chow not only corrected the previous surgeons work he did a perfect knee replacement on my left leg. He explained the whole procedure and I was walking within a few days and have had no problems whatsoever.

Dr. Chow was amazing from my first appointment. He explained every detail from the get go with both of my carpal tunnel release surgeries. I had great experiences with both surgeries and never did I once spend most of my time in the waiting room which is unheard of in today's day and age. He and his staff are on top of their game with appointment time, authorizations, explanations of procedures, and what to expect before, during, and after surgery. Dr. Chow gave me my hands back. I am thankful he was able to get rid of my pain and protect my nerves for the future.
