I had debilitating pain in my neck and left arm for several weeks, to the point where I was completely unable to sleep; after seeing several other providers with no improvement whatsoever, Dr. Dorsky was able to diagnose my issue almost immediately; I had ACDF surgery less than a week later and after recovery I'm virtually pain free

Dr. Dorsky was clear and direct about my condition. He offered information regarding surgery to correct condition and alleviate chronic pain. I was hesitant regarding surgery but his honest response to my concerns allowed me to make an informed decision. I did have the surgery which relived my pain almost immediately. The strength in my arms returned as well. His direct approach, and surgical skills have allowed me to be pain free again and able to return to activities I enjoy.

I've been seeing Dr. Dorsky for almost a year now. When I first went to see him,I was in so mush pain from a spinal injury I had. He is a very knowledgeable doctor and straight to the point. I am an 81-year-old male and in September 2022, I experienced severe pain in my lower back and left leg. I had had sciatica issues in the past and physical therapy (PT) helped me recover. I arranged for PT sessions and I had six weeks of treatment. There was no significant improvement and after a discussion with the therapist I contacted an orthopedic group that he recommended. They did not deal with spine issues but recommended several that did. After some research, I contacted the NJ Spine Center. I was scheduled for an initial appointment with Dr. Steven Dorsky. After a preliminary interview and examination, Dr. Dorsky informed me that it was very likely that, at a minimum, I had spinal stenosis. He prescribed an MRI test and said that we would have a fuller discussion after we had results. The MRI and x-rays confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of spinal stenosis and revealed that there was some disc deterioration and some age-related wear and tear in the lumbar area. Dr… Dorsky, and his PA, Mary Ann Rivera, spent time with me discussing and explaining the conditions and treatments. Both were very direct in providing information. I was impressed with the honesty that they conveyed and the confidence that they projected. I agreed to have a laminectomy procedure and spinal fusion surgery. Late in November I had the procedures and I spent three nights in the hospital. The day of the surgery I walked, with careful attention from hospital staff, from the hallway to my bed. The next day I had a physical therapy session focused on in-bed movement, getting up from and getting back into the bed, and hallway walking. In the next two days I had additional PT sessions on ambulatory cautions and skills. I was amazed with how good I felt, but I was concerned about doing something that would cause a set-back. I had follow-up appointments with Dr. Dorsky and PA Rivera one week and three weeks after surgery. These sessions were informative, positive and encouraging about the surgery outcomes and the recovery period to follow. They encouraged me to walk as much as possible and they arranged for at-home PT sessions. At this time, sixteen weeks after surgery, I wake up in the morning with no pain in my lower back, and I have progressed from minimal walking prior to the surgery to averaging 2-3 miles of walking per day. Follow-up appointments along with x-ray results have been very positive. I am looking forward to being approved for some core exercises with a physical therapist in the near future. I am very grateful to Dr Dorsky for his surgical skills that alleviated my pain and restored my active lifestyle.

Dr Dorsky has been my surgeon for 22 yrs. I have severe spinal stenosis and required 2 cervical fusions and 6 lumbar fusions. The man is excellent and I could not have asked for anyone any better. He cares and makes sure if he can correct the problem he will.

My mom suffered from severe, debilitating and nonstop lower back and legs pain for over two years. She was under the care of a pain management group taking pain killers, anti-inflammatory medications and several rounds of lumbar injections with very little pain relief. Her pain was worsening over time and her quality of life was very poor due to the severe pain. After discussing other treatment options with her PCP, she referred my mom to Dr. Dorsky. I dropped all my mom’s medical records and her last MRI at Dr. Dorsky’s office. We had a few telecoms with Dr. Dorsky, since there was no in person visits because of COVID-19. He confirmed that my mom had lower back spinal stenosis and the only option for her to fill better was to get a lumbar laminectomy. We were very scared and worried because my mom was a 90-year-old person. Dr. Dorsky and his assistant Maryann were very professional answering any questions and concerns we had about the surgery. Dr. Dorky and his team performed a lumbar… laminectomy, L2-S1 with fusion. The surgery was a success. My mom is pain free and even at 91, her quality of life is much better.
