disappointing experience with sub standard care. I broke my ankle and was wearing a large boot. I told the doctor I was having pain and his response was “maybe you’re doing too much walking”. I expected him to look at my foot after my boot was removed and he said “not necessary”. I was stunned. He didn’t even check the swelling of my ankle or the black and blue marks. He was only concerned with the billing paperwork.

I did see this doctor on two occassions. They told me they accepted my insurance and took a copay from me each time. Then they realized they were not providers for this insurance because they got denied on both claims after they had seen me twice. I know there is a bit of confusion at the beginning of every year, but I've worked in this particular fields for over 30 years. They have now billed me $500 for the visit and turned me over to collection. The office manager is insulting and rude.

I went in for a simple out-patient surgery that he botched -- twice! Due to his screw-up and lies, I've been in pain for 11 years. Lost medical license in IN. Why is he still practicing any where?

He helped me get my life back.

After surgery I was half blind in one eye, part paralyzed both legs, unable to keep my balance. After about 7 years I found out he could not operate in some of the Indiana hospitals. It was to late for me to take him to court.

I was a young, healthy female who fractured her wrist on a Thursday morning. I went to North Broward hospital, as it was the closest Emergency Room. It was a closed fracture of the Distal Radius (wrist) the ER doc said I needed an Ortho consult, she told me I would need manipulation under anesthesia. She comes back and says that the Doctor will not have time for me until around midnight (I got there at 2am) and that he told her to admit me. I denied being admitted, why in the world would anyone lie around in a hospital bed for 18 hours to have a twenty minute consult? I was told that I could only leave AMA, which I did. I called his office for an appointment as instructed, saw him first thing on Friday. He told me I needed to have emergency surgery the next day. NO TIME for a second opinion. I was so vulnerable and fragile and in soo much pain that I didn't look up Svabek, I ASSUMED that a district hospital had criteria, and WOULD/COULD NEVER have a shady doctor on call with… privileges. I had the surgery because he put the fear of deformation in my head. I have an enormous titanium plate and 6 rods. When I woke up from surgery, I never saw him. Never. He had already left for the day. He was so rude and nasty during my follow up visit, I had to push for medicine, I am constantly in pain. Then I was fired from my job because 12 days post op, he released me with NO RESTRICTIONS or LIGHT DUTY instructions. He signed the return to work form but wrote nothing, it was blank. He has no bedside manner and his staff is profoundly unprofessional and nasty to every patient, When I did go for a second opinion (obviously after he did damage) I am told that the plate is two sizes to big and that he used 2 rods too many, I only needed 4. Now I see all of these horrible and said patient comments and I am wondering what recourse I have. I sympathize with all of you that are still coping with the damage done to you. How in the world does a doctor with a reputation like Svabek get to be on call in a district hospital? How does that happen? Someone is responsible for putting the public in Jeopardy, and we all need to pursue this problem together, TODAY.
