Dr. Thomas Anthony Browning, MD

This review covers both Tennessee Eye Care of Lenoir City and Dr. Thomas Browning. In fairness I did not see Dr. Browning, but I hold him partially responsible for the events that caused me to leave without being seen. First, I waited for over 1.5 hours to see Dr. Browning and there were still 5 patients ahead of me when I left. Second, my appointment was to determine if I had acute angle glaucoma. During my 1.5 hour wait, the staff of Tennessee Eye Care did or tried to do exams and tests that had nothing to do with my appointment, including a routine eye test and scans of my eye that I had done just a few weeks before. I concluded this was to "pad" the bill and to fill time while waiting to see the doctor. Both totally inappropriate. Third, the interior waiting room was so packed that social distancing was impossible and several people felt so uncomfortable they left. Fourth, when I told the staff I was leaving, one staff person followed me into the entrance to convince me to… stay. She indicated the average time to see Dr. Browning is 3 hours and that in the 5-10 minutes we talked, the doctor was probably finished with the 5 patients in front of me and could see me now. This implies the doctor spends around 2 minutes per patient. The total experience left me concerned that I could not receive quality care and acceptable patient services from Tennessee Eye Care or Dr. Browning.
