Dr. Elina Vaysman Pales, DO

Stay away! Dr. Pales seemed attentive and compassionate during my mother-in-law's (MIL) first visit. My MIL had episodes of Trigeminal Neuralgia for the past 25 years. She hasn't had one for a long time. I told Dr. Pales that I am really afraid of the medication called Carbamazepine (or Tegritol), which is a heavy neurological med that can cause major side effects. My MIL has dementia and overall is in a poor health condition. Dr. Pales said that we should try this medication. A couple days after taking this med, my MIL started falling every day. She started having dizziness and her mental state declined sharply. My MIL's homecoming nurse called Dr. Pales and reported side effects and asked if she should discontinue this medication. Dr. Pales said to keep giving it to her and to call the office in a week. A week later, the nurse tried calling the office with no answer for 3 days. We (family) said multiple times that this medication should be discontinued. Two days later, my… mother-in-law fell again and broke her ankle in 2 places. She is now bedridden with no pressure allowed on this foot. We don't know whether she'll walk again (We certainly hope so but she was only walking around the house with a walker before). Dr. Pales's MA called me for some other reason and I told her what had happened and how frustrated we are. The MA said that she understands and that Dr. Pales will definitely call us back. Over two weeks passed... They called from the office to schedule a follow-up appointment, completely unaware of what happened. I said we'll never trust this doctor again! The major issue (in addition to unprofessionalism) is that nobody in this office cares. Please, stay away!

Dr. Pales is thorough and thoughtful. Her office is clean and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The lab technicians are kind and have a soft touch, which as a former lab tech/CMA I can tell you how important that is. No fishing for a vein. One stick and you’re out of there. Thank you ladies. From the front desk to the back office, you all are what i expect in a good medical office.
