Dr. Elizabeth Nguyen, MD

Dr. Elizabeth T. Nguyen is a physiatrist board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is fellowship-trained in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine and specializes in the nonoperative care of spine conditions, sports injuries, and general musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Nguyen grew up in Houston, TX and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After obtaining her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, she completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. While in residency, she served as Chief Resident and was awarded honors for excellence in patient care. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery. During her fellowship, she gained further expertise in utilizing fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures to address a wide spectrum …of spinal conditions and sports injuries. She also developed a strong interest in regenerative treatments, including platelet-rich plasma therapy. Dr. Nguyen provided team physician coverage for athletes at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ and St. John's University in Queens, NY. After fellowship, she joined NY Orthopedics, a premier orthopedics and sports medicine practice located in New York. After several years in private practice, she returned to the Department of Physiatry at Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Nguyen has authored numerous scientific research articles and book chapters in the field of musculoskeletal and rehabilitation medicine, and has presented her research at both regional and national academic conferences. She has held committee leadership roles within the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and is an active member of many local and national medical academic societies. Dr. Nguyen was selected for inclusion on the 2015-2017 New York Super Doctors list of Rising Stars. In her free time, she enjoys running, scuba diving, traveling, photography, and spending time with her family.
