I had my first visit with Dr. Erica Mintzer after many years without seeing a primary care physician, so I was hoping for a comprehensive baseline evaluation and discussion of my overall health. During the visit, I felt that the focus shifted quickly toward preventive screening procedures such as Pap smear, mammography, and colonoscopy, rather than first addressing my immediate concerns and establishing a general health baseline (e.g., basic labs like CBC and overall assessment). I also felt that some of my lab findings were not explored in depth, and I would have appreciated a more thorough discussion of their clinical significance and follow-up plan. While I understand the importance of evidence-based practice and avoiding unnecessary testing, the communication around these decisions felt limited and not fully reassuring. Overall, I was hoping for a more patient-centered approach, with clearer prioritization of my concerns and more detailed explanation of the clinical reasoning… behind decisions.
