Dr. Erich Daniel Mertensmeyer

I came to Dr Mertensmeyer with an ear issue. He started the appointment letting me know that of all the cases like mine he sees thru the year, none of them are resolved. I should have immediately left after that comment. His diagnosis did not make much sense to me and when I tried to get him to explain to me better he got very short with me and said "well we can waste our time with an MRI if you want". I feel like he just brushed me off to another doctor.

This doctor treated me horribly. He looked at my small growth under my tongue and told me I would have a huge hole in my mouth and be deformed if I got it removed. I have ptsd, am a veteran,have had two strokes, and mental health issues and he scared me to death by saying this and I just saw a surgeon and was told this procedure would be no problem and not leave me deformed or anything.

He was very pleasant and did not rush me. Together we decided on my course of treatment. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Mertensmeyer was very kind and thorough. Am grateful that I was referred to him.

I recentyl had an appoingment with Dr Mertensmeyer. He has a very bad bedside manner. I felt like he was just in a hurry to get out of the room He seemed irritated when I asked questions. And before he even examined me he told me that lots of people just have to learn to live with their symptoms. I would never go to him again.

I went to him for severe vertigo. The first time he told me that it would go away on it's own. Months later it reoccured and he told me I was eatting too much sodium. He gave me no medicine, no refferals, and nothing to do when the vertigo came back. This week I was rushed to the ER for severe vertigo lasting over 9 hours. The ER doctor stated my sodium levels were fine but I have Labyrinthitis, which Mertensmeyer should have identified. I have to go back and see a ENT and I'm driving all the way to Jeff City to see someone who will help me.

Dr. Mertensmeyer is a skilled Dr and knows his medicine, however he has poor bedside manner, can be condescending and has little patience with children. I would have no hesitation in using him if my criteria was his knowledge and skill alone, but his attitude and demeanor are much harder to work with.
