My brother has chronic paranoid schizophrenia and and also a drug problem. This psychiatrist treated him like a real human being and also got him I’m a new medication that really made a difference. Great experience with her ... my brother and family are grateful!

Did not want to talk to my own psychiatrist—and only did upon my repeated insistence. Told me to stop cold turkey an anxiety, can-be-addictive medication that I had been on for years — which I knew could be a major problem. Refused to believe I had severely bad reaction to several medications — said it was in my head. Intimidating.

Took the time to figure me out. Good psychiatrist!

Dr Olander was the first psychiatrist that ever understood that I had an eating disorder, namely bulimia. I don't understand why others didn't see this, but once she explained it to me, it helped me to get into the right treatment and finally heal. I have her to thank for this!

I found this Doctor to be callous and she had no empathy or bedside manner.

really liked this doc I recently saw thru INOVA. She clearly knows what she's doing but is also caring. she talked to me about all of my physical problems , not just my mental issues and tied it altogether. highly recommended if you go there!

I recently saw this psychiatrist in a program at Inova. I was impressed at how detail-oriented she was and how much time she spent with me for a doctor. She really wanted to know all about my history and seemed genuinely concerned about my safety. One drawback: she is not in private practice so could not follow with her after discharge from the program. Really great experience overall and still feeling much improved with a better understanding of my diagnosis and medications.

My experience with this doctor was the best I have had with any in the past. She was the first to get my diagnosis right, get me on the right meds and off the ones. She also got me off meds that were addictive and weren’t helping me anyway. I was shocked to see any negative Review about her- she changed my life. But I suspect some people can get angry when she won’t prescribe the addictive meds they seek. She is a great doctor, highly recommend if you want to truly get better!

Within days of seeing her, she decidided to change my medications. She also said she was unclear about my bipolar diagnosis after meeting with her for a day and a half. Every psychiatrist I saw after her thought that this was ridiculous. She is not positive and comes across as fake. Would definitely not recommend.

We were astonished at the unprofessional conduct of Dr. Olander. She behaved in an angry and unprofessional manner and repeated confidential patient information without permission.
