Dr. Francis Joseph Odonnell III, DO

Experience was so bad wished there were negative ratings! Recommend if you get referred to this provider you heavily research him and consider all the reviews. Wish I would have. His background includes Education: Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, LeHigh University, Bethlehem, PA Bachelors of Arts, Philosophy, LeHigh University, Bethlehem, .... As far as our appointment, feel we were passed to the wrong medical professional. Experience was horrific. He didn’t address our concerns nor addressed the symptoms explained ... Also took us to his office and showed us the mri. we already knew was clean from the orthopedic provider who ordered it and gave us the results - and wanted us to see neurology based on their assessment . Found him arrogant and highly rude!! He ended the appointment with saying, at least not dying !!!! So very disappointed after waiting 3 months to get in to this facility we came out devastated. On the positive side, we are now on the right path with another… provider.

After 5 months and 4 fruitless visits, my husband I are convinced that this “headache specialist” is a fraud and an insult to the medical profession. He’s got a big chip on his shoulder and is very dismissive of my concerns. He put me on 3 different medications that did absolutely nothing to relieve my 24/7 headaches, and I had to suffer through the side effects as he switched from one to the other, as if he was grasping at straws. In my May 9 visit, the nurse took my BP, which was 98/48, the lowest ever. When the Dr. came in, he said “are you happy with your BP?” I nearly exploded and my husband asked him to recheck it since it was so low. He dismissed the request. This “doctor” needs to be investigated for malpractice and New Hanover Regional Medical Center should re-evaluate their decision to hire him as a specialist, and realize it was a big mistake and now a dark stain on an otherwise excellent reputation. Stay away from Dr. O’Donnell!

Diminished my concerns and would not consider that I had a pretty abnormal chronic migraine pattern that required special consideration and treatment. He basically implied that I was lying about my migraines at one point and started me on anti-epileptic drugs without explaining any potential risks or side effects. Him and the office staff at OrthoNeuro were horrifically unprofessional and I was seen by a CNP who knew nothing multiple times because the “doctor” didn’t feel like gracing the practice with his presence those days. Avoid at all costs and go to OSU if your insurance permits it. The doctors are outstanding and truly listen to your thoughts...and feelings! Groundbreaking, right?! (sarcasm)

Dr. O'Donnell was the only doctor who was able to find out what was causing my bad headaches. He always took his time with me and was always very pleasant to deal with, if someone says otherwise they may have been the difficult one. Has been the doctor I turn to when no one else can figure out what is wrong. He has been my doctor for more than 30 years.

horrible experience... specifically asked scheduler if he handled my type of need, and was told yes... after taking my money, was told by Dr. that he couldn't handle my problem. He was actually nasty and rude, and brought me to tears... I even asked for a reference of whom might be able to assist me, he gave some offhand answer about a hospital out of town... horrible, nasty, little man.

Let me just paraphrase this by saying this I have had 5 concussions in the past and have seen a top pediatric concussion specialist in the nation back home in Wisconsin. I am a student at OSU now so when I believed I had a 6th concussion I went to the campus health center and they diagnosised me with a concussion. They then referred me to dr O donnell bc they thought it was a severe concussion. My first complaint: If he suppose to be a concussion specialist why are their no light dimmers ( not only do people with concussions have sensitivity to light but people with other neurological issues have it as well) My second complaint: When I told him I had my mom on the phone he told me to hang up and have her come to the follow up. I proceeded to say she’s from Wisconsin and will not be able to come. He was very annoyed when I would not hang up. My third complaint: He would interrupt me when I was answering his questions My fourth complaint: He proceeded to tell question my… diagnosis of disautonomia (which was diagnosed by two doctors who trained at mayos and are top in the country) My fifth complaint: He gave me no treatment plan but to sleep. The general practitioner who diagnosed me gave me a full packet on concussion treatment. In my past experiences with concussion specialist they would tell me to drink a certain amount of water and electrolytes a day. They would also give me a step by step plan of how to increase your activity based on your symptoms. They also would help with getting accomidations and working with teachers as well as giving you a full informational packet in concussions. It’s sad that all his advice was was for me to sleep. My final complaint: I was wearing a baseball cap and he literally ripped it off my head so he could check my eyes. I was purposefully wearing it to shield my eyes cuz I was very sensitive to light. The fact that he didn’t even ask if I would remove my hat is very rude and mannerless.

I would not recommend this "doctor" to my worst enemy. Condescending, in bed with drug companies, not at all concerned about patient's welfare, gave his totally incorrect opinion in an accident case which compromised it's outcome. Wish I had read all his negative reviews which describe him to a T. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. O'Donnell is arrogant, condescending and dismissive. I thought that maybe I misread him after my initial visit for debilitating post head injury with LOC headaches, vertigo and visual issues. I told him I was having a blinding headache's and vertigo at work and was there anything he could prescribe to help break it up. He said I will give you dexamethasone but never told me what it was. I got to the pharmacy and there were 10 pills and I found out they were steroids which made no sense to me. When I went for a follow up visit he seemed annoyed when I said the meds prescribed at my first visit were not helping. He did not address or prescribe anything for vertigo even after I contacted the office again after my second visit. I asked him to explain what could be going on neurologically after my head injury and his response was, "You had a concussion and now you have headaches". I wish I had looked up reviews prior to seeing him. So many people had the exact experience that I did,… and it is especially frustrating when you are experiencing neurological issues. AVOID this doctor.

Worst Doctor I have ever seen...EVER. He is rude. Interrupts you while you are attempting to answer his questions. Comes and goes out of exam room without explanation. Seems really uninterested in actually helping you. During an exam, he actually caused my neck to hurt because he was so "rough" in his manner.

I should have looked at these reviews before going to him. I had the same experience as the other 1 stars. He didn't listen to me, would interrupt me when I was talking, questioned me in the direction of what diagnosis he wanted me to have. I have a unique set of problems. My primary sent me and he will know how bad he was. What a waste of my money, my insurance money and my time. He just wanted to push pills on me and send me on my way. He just wants to herd the patients in and out to collect his money. I left in tears due to his unprofessional behavior!
