Great Dr

I've heard great things about this office, so gave them a try. I have seen Dr. Alena about 10 times total (only for two reasons though). Both times he misdiagnosed my problem. The first time I had a sinus infection. I knew it was a sinus infection due to the fact that I've had them before. He told me I was wrong and would not listen to me and insisted it was allergies. I have never had allergies, but figured he knew what he was talking about. After six visits, allergy tests, and a bunch of blood work, I was on five different prescriptions. Nothing was working. I finally went to the doctor my parents took me to as a teenager. I was then given antibiotics for a sinus infection and less than a week later, it was gone. The next time I went I had blisters and dry skin appear on my thumb and it seemed to be getting worse and spreading. He then insisted it was either a fungal or bacterial infection. He gave me three different types of fungal and bacterial creams as well as an… oral medication. Nothing! 2 weeks of this and I again went to the other doctor. They said it looked like eczema but sent me to a dermatologist since they do not have the lab equipment to test it (really small office). The dermatologist confirmed, gave me an ointment, and it instantly started to improve.My understanding is that the office is wonderful. My husband still uses them and has always had good visits. But of everyone I know who goes here, the ones who have dealt with Dr. Alena are not happy. I tried to get a different doctor, but the office informed me that I could only get a different doctor if HE approved of it. As a result, I have not returned to them in about four years now.

Dr. Alena was great - he listens and he takes the time to explain the situation; using charts, diagrams, whatever so that, you, the patient understand exactly what is going on. His staff on the other hand is rude and unprofessional. The receptionist, Becky was condescending and rude when u called in to make an appointment, when I called back to let the office know I would be another 10 min and on my way. When I got to the office and my name was called my the MA, I was mocked when they called my name mispronouncing my last name - granted, I do no have a common last name, but at least try to remain professional. When I called back a few days later to request additional medication, I was again met with the same rude and condescending Becky. Sure, the doctor is great, but what good is that when you have to deal with a rude and unprofessional staff.

Why I can not get an appointment the same day I get sick? I can not talk to doctor Alena when I need. The secretary knows better I have to go to ER !!! Why I have to go to ER ? I would appretiate a "call hour schedule". There is no option to leave him a message. It is the policy I can't manage things over the phone?When I have an appointment he is the best doctor I can wish.
