Dr. Frank Roman Avilucea, MD

As a former trauma ortho RN I RARELY come across ortho docs here in FL that I am impressed by let alone will write a positive review for! If it wasn't for Dr. Avilucea however, my 61 yr old husband would NOT be walking as well as active! His total hip replacement femur spike had broke in half in his femur and caused periprosthetic fractures. This was missed for over a month by the Orlando VA who refused to do more than a basic xray. After a 27 hr wait in the ORMC ER a CT scan found it and he had sx the next day with Dr. A. During sx his femur split long ways and fell apart in pieces in Dr. A's hand!!! He reconstructed his femur using a long rod, large, long metal plate, and a ton of screws. Originally it was thought he wouldn't be able to bear weight or walk on it for 10 weeks!! After only 5 weeks my husband was able to start walking on it and after 2 more weeks he didn't even need a cane!! Dr. A is a miracle worker! He is HIGHLY skilled and has a GREAT bedside manner. Unfortunately… after sx he wasn't able to meet me in person to give me his sx update BUT he did call me very soon afterwards and explained everything!

I’m a patient and recipient of a full knee replacement. Dr. Avilucea has provided outstanding care from the moment I met him through my treatment. Dr. Avilucea has a wonderful personality and bedside manner and his skill in the O.R. is unparalleled. I had heard good things about him and couldn’t be happier than to have chosen him for my care. My surgery has been incredibly successful and I’m quickly returning to a condition I haven’t been in for over 10 years. I recommend Dr. Avilucea to anyone in need of excellent orthopedic care. G. What Dr. Avilucea may have in popularity, he lacks in protocol and consideration for his patients and their family. He failed to test the fluid drained from a wound, that later would not heal, leading to surgery months later. The day surgery was scheduled, following that surgery, he made no attempt to walk out to tell the family about the outcome of the surgery. In the least of efforts he could have at least called and spoken with his wife...or called the front desk. All day we watched other doctors come out to inform other families about their loved one's surgeries. It was never explained to us why my husband would be spending the night, when we expected he would go home the same day which causes worry and anxiety on an already stressful day. As educators, Dr. Avilucea gets an F rating for unprofessionalism and lack of compassion.

I was in a head on collision and broke all the bones in my legs. Dr. Avilucea saved my legs and fixed them up perfectly. He always answers all of my questions, takes his time with me and explains things so I can understand clearly. I can't thank him enough for what he has done for me (and still does).

The nicest Dr I have ever seen. Very personable and makes time for your concerns. Never makes you feel he’s in a hurry to see next patient. Definitely the best bedside manner I’ve ever experienced. And I’m 76

I was in a car accident and had several broken bones including several bad breaks in my pelvis. I was taken to Orlando Regional where Dr Avilucea took care of me. It's been almost 5 months since he fixed me and I am now walking very well again. I feel very fortunate that he was the surgeon who took care of me and can only speak highly of him.

Outstanding care provided by this surgeon. Had a break in my femur that another surgeon fixed and messed up. Dr Avilucea fixed what was done and I am now back to where I was before my injury. Cant say enough great things about this surgeon!!

Outstanding bedside manner and talented surgeon. He is very thoughtful and offers several solutions to a bad problem. I had a botched surgery with another surgeon and Dr Avilucea corrected what was done wrong to my leg.
