Dr. Frank Richard Heckl, MD

Sat next to me on bed and put my hand on his knee to show me a bad knee. Grabbed my stomach and told me my knee Hurts because I’m fat. I weigh 150 lb. he yelled at me and told me to shut up when I tried to explain why I was there. He then said I wasted his time and walked out.

I saw dr heckl about ten years ago and again two weeks ago. I find him knowledgeable and very caring. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for no nonsense advice and treatment. His assistant Siobhan is hardworking and caring and a sweetheart.

He scoped my knee to clean up my meniscus which was all he said that I needed. He got right up to my face, intimidated me, and said that I better have the surgery or I would never be able to play tennis again. He insisted that I would be able to compete again in 3-4 weeks.He went into my knee and did stuff that he never told me he was going to do. He did micro fractions of my patella, shrunk my cruciates and left a piece of meniscus he trimmed hanging loose. He then told me that it would take at least 8 weeks to even start playing very lightly. I received an unweighter that didn't fit but he said that it was supposed to slip down. I stepped on the court 11 weeks later and the hanging meniscus ripped across which was very painful. When I finally got in to see him, he got in my face, told me off and said that he needed to to go in and finish trimming that meniscus.. I never went back to him and ended up having to have replacement surgery 1 year later for the side of the knee he… ruined. I am now playing very competitively at a national level.

Couldnt have been better, excellent care, prayer. Before surgery gave a lot of comfort.

Dr. Heckle did an ACL repair on my R knee in 1985, the result of playing football for the Lobos. He was the team orthopedic surgeon. The ACL repair is still good 33 years later. Know, at age 54 I tore the meniscus in my R knee while training my colt. Dr. Heckl performed the required surgery and gave detailed insight (video of surgery w commentary) so I understand and my therapist understands how to best rehab and going forward preserve the knee joint. My knee is compromised due to the nature of the tear, and the repair that was required. I have challenges ahead of me that I am keenly aware of and options to consider in the future. I know this because Dr. Heckl is straight forward, a good communicator and has His patients best interest at heart. Dr. Heckl is a world class athlete, and a gifted surgeon who utilizes the most advanced procedures, tools and technology. He has tremendous experience in life, the OR and is deeply connected to his faith. He will do the best he can for his… patients with passion and a commitment to the best results possible.

Horrible doctor. Spends more time about his fat mother and jesus rather than medical issues with his patients.

Waited 1.5 hours to be seen. Then he wouldn't let me talk. Said he was running out of time...I was the one who had to wait! Lectured me because I wouldn't listen. Suggested treatment already tried by past docs but wouldn't hear me out!. He is so FIRED! If I get cut off by my Dr because it took so long for him to see me, then I did not receive the adequate level of care.

Appears to be a very nice man, but seems to experience some flight of ideas., Rather difficult to follow his train of thought at times. Respective to his rational for treatment, he frequently references the bible as his resource. Appeared to be more interested in "preaching" his general care philosophy and sharing his personal life experiences verses having a direct exchange/conversation with me.

Worst Doctor. Interrupts constantly. Rude, doesnt care about patients. Bedside manner is horid.

He first made a rude comment about my taking half a pain pill. The entire appointment was filled with religious comments. He did not allow me to ask any questions about my injury. I left appointment more confused than when I arrived.
