Retina Institute of Washington / Renton is Malicious – Don’t go there. I came for a diagnosis exam, and Doctor advised me to be treated asap, but I want a breakdown of my cost after insurance coverage first. My insurance was not contacted, and a few months later billed me $1,528 for that initial exam. In the bill, there were duplicate charges and unexplained charges for $342.00 and $552.00. I came in with my insurance card and asked billing to bill my insurance and fix the erroneous charges. After 2 years, not hearing anything from the office, I’ve thought that my insurance paid the bill. Then, come collection letters for the amount $1,156.00 that not paid by my insurance. By this time, I’ve changed insurance, and my insurance said they will not investigate anything over 2 years due to their state’s statute of limitation. Now, I am stuck with the bill and my eye still not treated.

I've been going to Dr Ko for 5 years. He gives me superior eye care for macular degeneration. I have not lost my eye sight and have actually had improvement. I highly recommend Dr Ko for retina eye related care.

My wife visited Dr. Ko for a fairly routine eye exam - diagnosis was cataracts. A technician who could not answer her questions performed the tests. Dr. Ko probably spent 5 minutes or less with her, and made no attempt to answer her questions. The bill was $640. After insurance discounts and payments, we had to pay $259.99. Dr. Ko is probably skilled, but in my opinion his rates are excessive. I later also had cataracts, and visited a prominent ophthalmologist who performed a thorough exam and answered my questions. I only had to pay the standard $40.00 specialist visit co-payment.
