Dr. George William Woods, MD

Saw him for a torn knee meniscus shown on MRI and already seen and diagnosed by 3 other drs (caused by a car accident). Was told by PT to go to a knee specialist, which is the only reason I chose him. He told me there was nothing wrong with my knee and that it was my back and I need to learn to walk again using crutches. I walked in with a knee brace limping a little and walked out with crutches (which I'm sure I'll be expensively charged for), which twisted up my back even more and caused even more back pain. By the time I got to the pain management dr. the next day, I was a disaster and my back was worse than before I saw him. And there was certainly no knee improvement. His bedside manner was fatherly almost to the point of condescension. So much for professionalism and best treatment in the Houston Medical Center! I'll stay in Clear Lake after this thank you very much!

I had meniscus muscle surgery by Dr. Woods last year. He was through in his investigation of my issue, explained the procedure to my satisfaction and spent the necessary time in appointments. I don't understand the previous reviews by those complaining about his "bedside manner". If they want pampering, they should try their mommy. He is a professional with years of experience and specialization in knee surgery. As for his staff, the old saying goes that you are treated the way you treat people. Maybe a self evaluation of one's own attitude is in store here. His staff was prompt to answer questions and always courteous.

Quick to recommend surgery with minimal explanation. No time for patient in follow-up and uncommunicative.Four months after surgery (mcl) and my knee is a wreck. Going to another doc to address issue.

Does not give you straight answers. I believe he performed my surgery incorrectly because I have had many problems that I feel I will have to live with forever because of this surgery. The staff are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. The other reviews are true that he only spends about 1-2 minutes in there and is very uncaring.

I was experiencing severe knee and leg pain---the office took xrays but the doctor did not even show them to me or go over what they looked like. I doubt that he even looked at them. He just said I had wear and tear and nothing would help, but maybe medication. I had on my papers that I took an anti-inflammatory but he didn't ask or look. I drove two hours from the country for 60 seconds of this man's time. I would never go back or recommend this clinic.

Tore my acl. Was immediately advised by Dr Woods that I needed surgery. Had surgery asap as instructed. Completed all neccessary physical therapy. However didnt receive proper follower up care. F/U appts were less than 3 minutes. Dr Woods is EXTREMELY rude. He screams at you during the appointments. And the staff is uncaring. Was having severe pain and stiffness months after the surgery. Dr Woods did nothing to help. I discharged myself from this Doctor after 3 months following my surgery and his instruction and no progress. Later begin to see another Doctor that told me everything that Dr Woods should have done and actually fixed the problem. I was depresed after seeing Dr Woods. I wouldnt recommend his services to anyone

I felt like a number everytime I visited the doctor. I was never shown my x-rays by the doctor to discuss any findings. After performing my knee scope, I never healed completely. Still having pain, I continued to visit the doctor. Dr. Woods told me that I had arthritis,and that the only cure for me was total knee replacement. After seeking a second opinion, I found that I had a severely torn medial meniscus. I am not sure if Dr. Woods even realized that I had an actual injury before seeking his help. I was originally there to see a different doctor, then was shuffled over to Dr. Woods' care. I don't believe he ever looked at my chart to know the origin of my problem. He never even touched my knee to ask me where my pain was. I would never go back to Fondren Ortho. I do not recommend to anyone.

Dr Woods and his staff were extremely efficient in diagnosing and correcting my Lt knee problem.My experience was very, very positive and I felt confident that he and his staff were there to do what it takes to get me better. He went out of his way to increase his staff when there were delays so things would get done in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Dr Woods and the Texas Orthopedic Hospital for their excellence.
