Dr. Glenn Shi, MD

Nice man. I now understand why I’m hurting. I went to several surgeons before him who spent total of 5 mins with me. A friend at the beach club told me to see Dr shi who listened to me and let me ask questions. Turns out I don’t need any major surgery but if I did, I trust him to do it.

Questionable bedside manner. Consult in 2016 and again this month. Changing doctors. Dr Shi spends time and appears neat and professional. Not comfortable with his judgment and will work with his colleague.

I suffer both osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and could no longer enjoy activities that required standing or walking for more than ten minutes due to pain in one of my feet. I was devastated when a well known local group’s foot/ankle orthopedist said he couldn’t help me surgically. A subsequent chance conversation with a friend who had had complex foot surgery introduced me to Dr.Shi. Fast forward: ten weeks ago Dr. Shi performed a procedure he developed, deep peroneal neurectomy, which removed a small part of nerve in my lower leg. The debilitating pain I had across the top of my foot is mostly gone. I still have some arthritic pain in foot and ankle, but it is very tolerable and controllable with OTC meds. Pain is 10%-20% of pre op level. Dr Shi and staff and the Clinic were great. I would have this surgery again in a heartbeat, and will see Dr Shi for any future ortho needs. Thanks, Dr Shi

As a retired nurse, I am always interested in how a doctor communicates with his patient. And Dr Shi is good. He is straight forward and compassionate. I had surgery and the results have been excellent. I followed everything Dr Shi told me to do in order to have a successful outcome. Doctors cannot fix a problem if a patient doesn’t take equal responsibility for healing.

Dr shi was disconnected and poor communication about surgery and postoperative follow up info. His pa also said conflicting information to what dr. Shi told me. Poor communication to patient.

Excellent surgeon. Offered options and let me choose the one that worked best for me. In less than 3 months, I can walk, bike, play golf, and play with the grandkids. I would highly recommend Dr. Shi for ankle replacement surgery.

I have had seven ankle surgeries. Dr. Shi performed the seventh, which involved removing a STAR total ankle that had been improperly positioned and installing, successfully, an Infinity system. In advance of this surgery, Dr. Shi spent an inordinate amount of time studying the history of my case, as well explaining in great detail his plan for correcting the issue with my ankle. I have had joint surgeries performed by eleven different Orthopedics. Dr. Shi was, by far, the most thorough, outgoing and concerned. He was most willing to listen to my comments and he answered all of my questions satisfactorily. He did an outstanding job on my ankle, allowing much more functionality - a vast improvement. He is still very interested in my case, and is continuing to monitor the status of my ankle. I am very thankful for what he has done and for his support, and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

As a doctor- Dr. Shi listened to me, was compassionate and knowledgeable. He presented my options very well. As my surgeon he was amazing. My joint fusion ended up being much more involved than was anticipated and he was thorough, facing these complications with skill and thankfully, success. Post surgery he has maintained his compassion for my recovery and health. Mayo Clinic has a talented asset with Dr. Shi. I heartily recommend him and of course Mayo Clinic also.

I am a Type 1 diabetic and fractured and broke my ankle in 4 places. I was very worried that I would have serious complications due to diabetes. Dr. Shi performed surgery and my ankle healed perfectly. He and his team were wonderful and very considerate in making sure I was comfortable. They also provided me prompt answers to all of my questions.
