Dr. Gonzalo Gabriel Gurmendi, MD

He was recently in an accident that has put him on Medical Leave for quite a while now, but I felt the need to give him the credit he deserves in case we do not cross paths again. This man gives so much care to his patients, and that's saying a lot when he has as many as he does. He takes meticulous notes and charts, to the point he remembers something I said 5 years previously before I could. He truly changed and personally believe he saved my life. I absolutely love this man and if he is able to recover in his health, there isn't a person in the world I wouldn't recommend to go see him. Dr. Gurmendi, I owe you everything.

Dr. Gurmendi has done many wonderful things for our son. However, when faced with an emergency - the office manager gave him a message, however refused to mark it "urgent". It took the doctor two days to call us back. The office manager, Lois, is extremely unpleasant, rude and intentionally difficult to deal with. Between the doctor's lack of response to our emergency and his office manager's rudeness and refusal to help us, we are disappointed that we must seek a new doctor.

The lady who you have to schedule appointments with, Louise, is extremely unprofessional in an arrogant manner. We cannot get her to return calls to make appointments although we leave voicemails to see the doctor. She is rude about billing also. We are considering leaving just because she is such a gate keeper type and you can't get to the dr. when you need him. Dr G is an excellent doctor. I do not undertand why he doesn't hire someone more professional.

Dr. Gurmendi is a wonderful, compassionate physician. If you decide to use him, hope and pray that you do not have an emergency and need him to return your call promptly. Because it will not happen. This has been extremely frustrating and while he is one of the best, his failure to return calls caused us to seek a different provider. I can't imagine a specialty where prompt response to crises would be more important - and that is all but non-existent with Dr. Gurmendi.

Receptionist is rude and unhelpful.

Dr. Gurmendi is amazing - he truly cares for my child and is meticulous when it comes to his treatment. His front office lady is extremely rude however and seems to forget that if it weren't for the doctors' patients, she wouldn't have a job.

A 5 year search and trials with 12 Birmingham Al. Psychiatrists, brought me to Dr. Gurmendi. I would highly recommend his expertise in Psychiatry. He has kept me well for the past 8 years! Just the Best!

Dr. Gurmendi has provided not only a compassionate ear, but practical and effective means for dealing with the mood issues my child is facing. The information he has given us have been effective tools for helping to heal not only our daughter, but our family as a whole.
