Dr. Harry King Hartman, MD

I really liked this place and had high hopes. I went in November to see if I was a candidate for lasik surgery. I previously had it done 14 years ago and had some regression in my vision. We discussed the options and they said I would be able to get PRK surgery since I previously had lasik. They could do the surgery in December but I wanted to put aside money in my FSA for the following year. Cut to 5 months later when they did the actual scans of my eyes and determined I was a risky candidate. I'm not going to risk my vision for a surgery that is supposed to improve my quality of life. However, why weren't the scans done in November? I put aside $4k into a limited FSA that has to be used this year. I'm angry about that. But I'm devastated that I spent that past 5 months thinking I'd be able to get rid of glasses for good to now be told I won't ever be able to. Also when I stressed the financial and emotional toll this has taken on me, I was told that "we could've just done the… surgery and I'd have the eye problems later down the road." Wow. I'm really disappointed as I actually liked the office. Be warned if you come here for lasik/prk, get the scans before they tell you its a go and before you invest your money and hopes into something that gets rudely taken away.

Had the cataract surgery only to find out they put wrong lens on my eye. No problem for them... They get to charge patient and insurance company for a redo. Hartman was recommended by a dentist ,that had Successful surgery. If you’re somebody that they deem important, I’m sure you’ll get a great job. If you’re nobody to them...beware.

Saved my eye!

I was a patient for years and needed cataracts removed. I was advised to get the multi focal lense due to my young age, it would be an investment. Had the right eyed done first and immediately knew I could not see out of the eye. The description in other comments was the same for me. Dr. said when I get the other eye done it will be better. False, they lie, it did not help. I had yag procedure on both eyes and he sent me to another dr for a second opinion. He said dry eyes are the problem and gave me drops and another big bill. This didn’t help either, still couldn’t see. I went back to Hartman and he stated this is rare, which was another lie. I talked to a patient of his who had same surgery and has same problems as I have. His demeanor changed to cold and he passed me off to his associate. It was then suggested I get a pair of mild pair of prescription glasses, more money with no help. I still can’t see and looking for options to correct this problems. Do not go to this dr and do… not get multi focal lense. My brother went to dr in Greensburg and got the cheapest lenses and can see great.

Even though I could still see with glasses, Dr Hartman recommended I have cataract surgery in both eyes. Trusting his recommendation, I agreed to have this done. He also recommended the newer, very expensive multi-focal lenses designed to reduce your need for eyeglasses for both distance and near vision, giving one clear vision at several distances. They are made to let the recipient see both near and far. I asked questions, but actually received very little information on them from Dr Hartman. I let him know I did not want mono-vision where one eye sees close and one eye far. I received the first lens and the vision was fine. I could see clearly in his office but had some trouble seeing lettering on the TV and signs on the roads. Received the second lens in my left eye. However, even at first, I could not see well out of that eye. Dr Hartman then proposed laser treatments to remove a film he said was covering both lenses. I had this done in both eyes. Large… floaters were now apparent and I could not see much out of the left eye. Dr. Hartman did a 2nd laser treatment on the left eye with very little results. He then recommended another surgery to remove the floaters. Trusting what I thought was his expert knowledge, I had the surgeries in both eyes to remove the floaters. With the floaters no longer a problem, I found the reason I could not see much out of the left eye. There were shadows at the top and bottom - shadows no eye doctor can see through their equipment, but shadows I do see. At one appointment, Dr Hartman stated he did not need to see me, but I insisted. He was rude and irresponsible concerning my problem and cared less that I could not see well. To date, I still get a little dizzy and off balance from these lenses. Road signs are blurry as well as print on TV screens. Through the smallest area of the left eye that is not obstructed by shadows, I can see perfectly. But I cannot read at all with that eye. Most likely due to the shadows or perhaps as one eye doctor suggested, a bad lens. I read fairly well with some fuzziness with the right eye, but also do not have correct distance vision. I have come to the conclusion, along with other eye doctors the following: 1. The lenses are really mono-vision lenses to a degree. 2. With the dizziness, could the right lens be in the left eye and the left lens in the right eye. 3. The lenses are just an incorrect lens prescription. (Or did the girl doing the original testing not report the correct vision.) 4. The left lens is actually a damaged lens. In summary. If I cannot see, I cannot see. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, not even those just getting glasses.

Was treated by eye dr & had catryric surgery paid for lens to see near & far, So far had the 1 eye redone by a doctor in NS,which H K Hartman recommended cause he could Not do anything more! Going to have my other eye redone, can't see with or without glasses right now & @ least since Hartman operated on me. Won't ever go back there to Hartman!!!

I finally got to see Dr. Hartmann at 10:20am, after waiting for nearly two hours (8:30am appointment). He spent about five minutes to tell me that he couldn't resolve my problem and referred me to someone else. His satff was supposed to arrage a referral appointment, but they simply gave me the other doctor's number and told me to call him myself. What a waste of time and $40! I will never go back.

I went to ER on a Saturday night with terrible eye pain, a Dr. in the ER called Dr. King Hartman Jr. Dr. Hartman told the ER doctor to have me meet him on Sunday morning at eight in his office. He examined my eye gave me the correct meds and explained my condition. After he finished I asked if he wanted my insurance information or payment and he replied just stop in in the next few days and see the girl at the desk. Not since the 50s have I seen a doctor like this man. He came in on a Sunday and opened the office just for me even though he had no idea who I was, he didn't care about being paid, made the correct diagnosis, stopped the pain and most of all eased my mind as to my condition. Why? Because he cared.
