Dr. Hal Scherz, MD

I went and saw Dr. Scherz today because my 8 year old son was hit in his boy area about a week and a half ago and had severe pain. We were in the ER the night before and were given a diagnosis that was concerning so we wanted to get a 2nd opinion from a specialist. This doctor was extremely rude and was questioning why I was at his office since I was at the ER the night before. He has no bedside manner even for children. I am so upset about this situation. I understand questioning what happened and getting information but to ask someone why they are in your office is just disrespectful considering an 8 year old is in the room and is in pain and just wants to feel better.

Dr Scherz did an amazing job. He was very personable and answered all our questions. We never had to wait long and the office staff were always so helpful. I highly recommend him and his office.

If I wanted to feel inferior, I would have visited my abusive mother. This is exactly the treatment I received from this "physician"... He reminds me of her. Being a medical professional myself, I am keen to realize exceptional and poor bedside manner. This man has none. I have been discounted as a professional, and FIRST AND FOREMOST, a parent. I have the pleasure of working with many physicians, and I have patience with their differences. I respect intelligence... But sir, you "gracing me" with your presence is no gift. Your lack of caring, poor bedside manner, and frankly, COMPENSATING EGO mask any intelligence you may have.

After only one short appt with dr. Scherz i have already gone to a new pediatric urologist. He completely demoralized me as a parent and accused me of not doing the necessary things for my child. He also all but kicked me Out refusing to schedule a follow up until “ i did what i needed to do as a parent” because his office had not yet put my sons faxed medical records in the system and that was someone my fault and someone made me a bad parent. his bedside manner is trash he is rude critical and an all around jerk. I do not recommend him nor will i ever allow him around my child again.

The whole staff was courteous and we were seen within about 5 mins of checking in. Dr Scherz was very thorough and explained everything well.

I would not recommend this doctor if it was the last option on earth. He didn't care to listen to what we were trying to tell him about our child. He said my child was acting about his pain and acted as if he didn't want to be bothered with us or even want to touch my child. He was very unprofessional and short with us. He seemed somewhat bothered by the color of our skin. Do your research before you take your child to this doctor!

Dr. Scherz and his staff are top notch. He listened to all of our questions and answered in ways that we understood. He was always very professional. His staff was always very kind and professional as well. The surgical procedure and all office visits for our child went well. Our child was comfortable with Dr. Scherz. We were very happy with our decision to seek out a pediatric urologist, even though our travel time was over 2 hours one-way each visit.

Dr Sherz insisted on the DEFLUX procedure for my daughter (against my judgment). He said he would not perform any other surgery than the DEFLUX. The surgery was NOT a success yet Dr Sherz refused to do a follow up test or perform any other procedures. He always insisted the infections were my daughters fault for not wiping correctly......every time for 8 straight years!! He is very rude and when we tried to see a different doctor in the practice he got upset and came in to tell us that we should not "try to go over his head" ......while we were waiting on the other doctor.....and then he proceeded to see my daughter. And for that visit, we were charged $436 for a 30 minute visit where I was reprimanded for getting a second opinion and told that HIS surgery worked and there will be no more tests to check it. If you want a professional who will listen to you as a parent (after all, we do know our children best) and give you options then STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR.

If you have young ones with urological issues, be careful when you are dealing with GA Urology that is the ONLY pediatric urologists in Atlanta. I strongly urge you to research online and get second opinion from other pediatric urologists out of town. These guys have created a monopoly in Atlanta and do whatever they wish.
