Dr. Harold Eugene Cates, MD

Dr. cates is a talented and gifted surgeon. He replaced my right knee and my left knee is scheduled for September. I would not want any other surgeon to touch my knees. My recovery has been great. I wish him the absolute best in his upcoming retirement but he will be missed by his patients.

Dr. Cates is a great orthopedic Dr. He takes his time and makes sure he answers all your questions and concerns. Would have him do my knees a hundred times. Good luck on your up coming retirement in December. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Cates is an excellent doctor and has provided me excellent results. I had a knee revision in 2022 and this week I had my final annual checkup with him. I have to admit I went into my first visit a bit defensive in dealing him because of previous physician I went to for an evaluation in my right knee. However, by the end of that first visit with Dr Cates, I knew my defensive attitude was unwarranted. By our second visit I felt much better, more open to him and his warm and friendly manner and staff, in his office in general. That was it for me, I’m glad I went back this last time to get my surgery date set up, and have complete confident I will be given the best quality of treatment during and after.. So glad to know there’s still a kind, comfortable physician who is willing to listen to his patients and a supportive staff who give the same kind and caring support as well.

Dr Cates is the Most Caring, and listening Doctor I have experienced . He even tries to help you figure out WHAT is the Problem and HOW to fix it! And He Succeeds and HELPS you! WONDERFUL Man and Caring Doctor . He completed my hips in 2016 and has been a Great Doctor to help since! Intelligent, Wise , and Compassionate . That is Dr Harold Cates. THANK YOU .

Dr cates is the most passionate dr around.he has taken care of both of my parents and my sister.and now he’s taking care of me. I would not want anyone else to do my surgery.

TOA staff are courteous and friendly, and Dr. Cates is a wonderful doctor. He listens to you and takes the time to explain things so that you understand clearly what the issue is. He is patient and incredibly kind. I have been told by others that he is THE Knee Doctor in Knoxville, and I know he works wonders with hips because a colleague's reference is why I switched to him in the first place--she was back on the tennis courts three weeks after surgery!
