Dr. Henry Ruiz, MD

Stay away from this man. He butchered my wife and was fired 3 months later from the hospital for very high infection rates. Stay away!!!

I had a fusion done by Dr Ruiz. The fusion never fused even though Ruiz told me it did. I had a broken screw and another screw backed out and was popping when I moved. I ended up having to go to another Dr in Birmingham and have the whole surgery redone. Now I have permanent nerve damage.

My mother in law went to him many years ago.. The last surgery (was suppose to replace a shunt) he decided to pull the old one out that was attached.. Later that day he told us he pulled the shunt and brain tissue (gray matter) was still attached. His nurse looked at me wide eyed like she couldn't believe he just told me that. My mother in law never pulled out of ICU and died within 10 days. He writes over his records so no can press charges.. Please do not go to him, he is only out for money..

This was the worst dr i have ever seen in my life. He misdiagnosed me, did unnecessary surgeries that later had to be fixed by another surgeon. He absolutely has the rudest staff (unfriendly, unprofessional). Worst 2 years of my life when i wad under his care. Some people are only out for money.

I had what is called a minimally invasive operation in my back, called Matrix, and my leg pain went away completely. Dr. Ruiz's manners very well reflected his caring and professional attitud. I highly recommend this type of surgery for ruptured discs.

The first time I met Dr. Ruiz was in the hospital. I had suffered with low back pain for years and finally had to be admitted due to weakness in my legs. He was so nice and very smart. It took him less than 5 minutes to diagnose my problem of "degenerative disc disease". He offered conservative measures before surgery and the following day I was scheduled for an epidural block. Upon follow up, the decision was made to proceed with surgery and no doubt I made the right choice in both having the surgery and with the surgeon.

Dr. Ruiz was not my father's doctor upon my father checking into Gadsden Hospital, but took it upon himself to prescribe muscle relaxer - Robaxin without informing the patient or family. This drug along with Morphin that was already being administered caused my father to have congestive heart failure and now he's unresponsive and sedated to try and regulate his breathing. He arrived at the hospital still able to talk, but now he's out, as if a coma. This doctor had no right in prescribing a drug without consent or an explanation for doing so.
