Dr. Howard Yonas, MD

It is because of Dr. Yonas' expertise that my mother is alive today after her THIRD brain surgery 20 year ago. He very knowledgably performed a marathon surgery, the very first of its kind, and saved her life! He treated my mother and our entire family with the upmost respect and genuine care and concern! He exhaustively fought to keep her alive and we are eternally grateful! Two years ago when my mother called his office, he, without hesitation, remember his miracle girl!

His bedside manner could use some improvement, but I think most neurosurgeon's could! He knew what he needed to do to save my life, and his follow up care has been very good, and actually much better than the initial impression that we got in the hospital. Hopefully I don't ever have to let someone cut into my brain again, but if I do, it will be him if I have any choice!

I had been warned about Dr.Yonas's cold and impersonable tendencies. However, during my visit with him I was also faced with his, APPARENT discontent resentment, when he had taken note of my knowledge in Biology. He addressed the topic and even questioned me. It was then when his attitude worsened. He disregarded my test results that he had in hand and claimed that they were inaccurate. None the less, TWO of UNM's test machines and FOUR Doctors' say otherwise. I was VERY displeased with him and will make it a point to NEVER be seen by him again.... some Chairman.
