Dr. Ian James Alexander, MD

Worst doctor I've ever been to. His surgery many years ago on my feet did nothing to help me & when I went to other doctors they explained why it would have never worked. I think this only goal was to practice on people, have them sign a disclaimer so he can't be held accountable & fill his pockets. As I recall even the hospital he practiced at during the surgery in Akron was closed shortly after I was there due to lawsuits & malpractice. Maybe he has gotten better since then but I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Genesis Hospital is beyond fortunate to have Dr. Ian Alexander on staff. I was extremely lucky to have had him oversee my surgery and care. My diagnosis wasn’t what we had expected and he could tell I was beyond upset. Not only was he compassionate and caring, but explained each and every detail of the procedure and the next steps of treatment. I am grateful to him for seeing one last patient as he was heading out the door?? He is sincerely passionate about his profession. Thank You

I've been an RN for over 27 years, working in Orthopedics, the OR, & Trauma. In 2016, I experienced a Trimalleolar Fracture, requiring a plate & 8 screws. From the moment that I was brought into the ER, at least 15 Staff Members told me how fortunate I was because Dr. Alexander was on-call. He was very professional, knowledgeable, kind, & personable. Everything went exactly as planned, & a few days later, I went back to NC, where I'm from. The Orthopedic Surgeon who took over my care told me, after reviewing my records & x-rays and examining my ankle, that I had received expert care & that my ankle was "set perfectly". My ankle healed without any difficulties and is pain free to this day. I want Dr. Alexander to know how much I appreciate his excellent care and how grateful I am that he was on-call when I was injured. I would be honored to work with such a fine Orthopedic Surgeon!

Dr. Alexander has done miracles on both of my feet as he had to perform multiple surgeries to fix a previous foot doctors mistakes & bone infection. He is very personal, helpful, explains very well & treats you like a family member. He's a perfectionist in his surgeries which has saved both of my feet allowing me to walk again!

Awesome doctor , old school ,deeply cares about his patients, provides excellent skilled care ! Saved my life ! TOP DOC !

My family Dr. had his Ankle fused by Dr. Alexander back in 1991 and had a great experience so twenty years later when my Ankle required surgery Dr. Alexander was the only choice considered by my family Dr.My experience was equilaly as great, Dr. Alexander and his staff at Ohio State University Medical Center(East)were the best all around, And I whould recommend him to everyone who needs foot or ankle work done. After my surgery he even gave me his home and cell phone numbers so if I needed to talk to him after hours I could reach him " at any time ".

Dr. Alexander is the most caring and understanding and wisest man that we have encountered through our ordeal. He saved my husband's leg. He took very good care of him throughout the 3.5 years that it took to get my husband back on track. Not to mention I have never had a doctor give me his home, office, cell and pager numbers. That is confidence in my book. I only used his cell phone number 1 time and he was right there when I needed him. He was so good at keeping in good contact. When he moved from Akron to Mansfield, we opted to stay with him because he is the best in the country. We are very lucky to have him and are thankful that we do.
