Dr. Irene A Arden, PsyD

Definitely echo one of the comments made here. I had a phone call with Irene about my issues and she said she could help with it and, abruptly and quickly jumped to 'share your insurance details with my admin'. I should have realized she is simply behind insurance money and not willing to help people. During my appointment, she simply asked me a few things about my work and family. Took notes and said she won't be able to help. Ridiculous considering she knew the issues I was coming to her for and she said she could help. The worst thing - she was simply disinterested in my emotional well being and paid zero attention to our conversation.

Found Dr. Arden to be attentive, kind and truly concerned about my well being. Warm and caring - she's also not afraid to tell me when I've messed up!!!

I came to the intake appointment in a very depressed condition, feeling inarticulate and out of sorts. She seemed disgusted and uninterested in me trying to describe my emotional state. She didn't ask questions, leaving me to just ramble through a summary of my mental health, unsure what was useful info. Eventually, she asked a few background questions about my family (number of siblings, what do they do, etc), which was all covered in my intake forms. I mentioned my engagement and she spent the rest of the appointment criticizing the way I was planning my wedding, even though I explicitly told her I did not want to talk about it twice. I left crying. The least useful, most belittling, just strangest intake appointment I have ever been to. At the end she pressured me into making another appointment, which of course I ended up canceling. She also had not heard of the medication I am taking (escitalopram), which is not required for a psychologist I suppose, but left me feeling even… more uncomfortable.
