Dr. James Chuang

I want to warn others not to come here based on my experience. The doctor was the problem here. He is terrible. I have seen at least 50 doctors, and none has been as unprofessional and unhelpful as this one. I never leave reviews so this experience took a lot for me to say this. He was condescending, speaking over me while I tried to ask simple questions indicating he didn't care to hear what I had to say, and at one point even said "We need to hurry this up I need to see my next patient" after he had dominated the conversation. Zero empathy for someone who potentially needed a surgery. He also told lots of useless stories about how other people he had seen with cauliflower ear considered it a 'badge of honor' in his attempts to talk me into leaving it alone. I immediately went to a different ENT practice (Canyon Sky ENT) and they were a completely different experience. They fixed my ear perfectly instead of trying to talk me into leaving it mangled. I should have taken the time to… read the reviews about him before blindly scheduling a visit. Lesson learned.

I recently visited Dr. Chuang and hoped the practice would be professional and compassionate. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and frustrating. It felt like he was in a rush to see the next patient and disinterested in explaining the concerns and suggesting the treatment options, leaving me feeling confused and frustrated. I felt very disrespected during the consultation and seemed he was merely going through the motions, ticking off boxes on a checklist rather than genuinely engaging with me as a patient. I wouldn't recommend this practice to others seeking compassionate and competent medical care.

Dr Chuang is knowledgeable, skillful and has great personality. He did a surgery to my ear, eliminated the pain that I had for years…Great doctor, will go to him for any ENT issues.

Dr. Chuang and his assistant Valerie were outstanding in their extreme knowledge of my needs, care of taking the time to ensure that all of my questions, concerns were met and answered. His is funny in how he describes situations and understanding and in a way that helps you completely understand what it is he is explaining to you and will repeat it again if needed with care and compassion. I went to 3 other doctors until I felt comfortable with someone who was going to do a surgery on me and Dr Chuang filled that requirement fully. He is definitely top notch and would not hesitate to use him again if needed. I asked for this review to be sent because once you find someone who cares and it shows you want to make sure to acknowledge that. A PLUS RATING from me for sure.

He talks in a dramatic way. Hardly listens keeps talking and keeps guessing about the treatment . No hunchat all !

It seems like he had a monologue prepared and just repeated it. I felt his tone condescending, definitely going to get a second opinion. As soon as he entered to room it seems he was sure of what the problem was and there was no way around it. I asked questions and got the prepared monologue again. His assistant was very sweet and accommodating. But yeah... This doctor is definitely not for me or my family.

This was one of the worst appointments I have ever had with a medical provider in my life and it started from the moment Dr. Chuang walked into the exam room. • Dr. Chuang was late. • I asked him a simple question at the beginning of the appointment about the inner ear that he refused to answer until the end of the session as he has a specific order in which he does things and all questions are at the end. • He talks very fast and is extremely animated. • If he explains something you don’t understand then he will repeat it multiple times offering no new information from the first time, so nothing gets any clearer. • He does not listen to you when you give him information because he’s so adamant about talking during the entire session. • He brought up issues with a past patient leaving a bad review online numerous times throughout the session, which indicated to my wife and me that this was an issue. • He brought up numerous times about running late because he spends as much time… as needed for each patient. In reality, if he would just stop talking and performing his imitations and listen to the patient, the session would go far quicker. • I went in for issues with my hearing and he focused on the fact that I had a deviated septum, something 70% – 80% of the population has, and he saw this as a priority. • He was more focused on wanting to discuss the deviated septum than he was on my hearing issue and he brought it up many times during the visit. • Then over the weekend I received a report from the office with his notes where he listed many things that were never discussed in the visit. I had my wife read and confirm this. The one good thing that came out of this visit was that after I expressed all the issues I was having with the way it was going and the fact that I was going to be billed for him diagnosing my deviated septum that has nothing to do with the issue I was there for, he did say I would not be charged for the entire visit. I will never go back to him and I will not go to Valley ENT because of him. If this is an example of the doctors at Valley ENT, then I will find another ENT that can help me.

Very rude towards the things I asked. It felt like he'd just rather have his patents come in, sit down, and go out with little room for a health dialog. he just had things to say with 200% confidence and when I asked a few things - he behaved as if I had asked some questions below his standard. And his answers were like 20-30 % relevant to the question. The rest was just his "confident" style of talking.

DO. NOT…I REPEAT DO NOT see this guy. He’s a whack job that is rude and condescending. He tried to tell my daughter she had lymphoma when it was a textbook case of tonsillectomy. He started talking about chemo and radiation . Also would not answer any questions…he said they had to be answered by his equally rude assistant Valerie. I don’t know how he’s even licensed. Thankful for our second opinion and that we did not go with his guess of a diagnosis.
