Dr. Simmons has received his medical degree at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993. He has completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopeadic surgery from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. Dr. Simmons completed his Fellowship training in spinal surgery at the Twinn Cities Spine Center, Minnesota. He has specialized training in performing Complex Spinal Reconstruction, Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and is performing all of the following invasive techniques for both children and adults: Microendoscopic Discetomy, Thorascopic Anterior Spinal Fusion and Insturmentation, Minimally Invasive Spinal Decompression and Minimally Invasive Spinal Fusion with Instrumentation. Dr. Simmons is the Medical Director of the Spinal & Thoracic Treatment & Research Center (STTAR) at Christus Santa Roas which provides services to children from around the world. Dr. Simmons is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic …Surgery and is a member of the Texas Medical Society, Scoliosis Research Soceity, The Pediatric Orthopedic Society, Bexar County Medical Society, and North American Spine Society.

After reviewing my MRI, we discussed surgery to straighten my spine. After discussing what would be done and the limited mobility possibilities after surgery, we considered alternatives to surgery. At this point I’m extremely relieved for the referral to a chiropractor to see if that can help with my pain to avoid surgery if possible. Worth a try!

Dr. Simmons was very compassionate and thorough in his explanation of surgery not being a viable solution for me. He and my husband discussed my getting a back brace to wear at the times that are most difficult on my back, i.e. housework, yard/care of plants, patio. His nurse, Brenda Davila, was so friendly, kind and most diligent in finding a way to work with getting the back brace for me. An important day for me. Thank you.

I went to see Dr Simmons because my friend was very satisfied with him and his nurse Brenda who is super nice and helpful. Another physician had wanted me to have a. Myelogram without even going over my problem. Dr Simmons did an X Ray and found some problems which are better now after he prescribed medication.

The staff was efficient, professional and very kind. The wait was less than 10 minutes and Dr. Simmons provided an immediate plan to resolve my issue. The office even texted within 2 hours of my visit to communicate the results of some imagining. So grateful for this health care provider!
