Dr. James William Yost, MD

Been trying to see a Rheumatologist for a while. Finally get a referral to see Dr. Yost. Seems that he doesn't care if you have insurance or not, he wants to get paid upfront. Yes doctors deserve to get paid for their services, but what about the Hippocratic Oath? The Declaration of Geneva?THE HEALTH OF MY PATIENT will be my first consideration.I WILL NOT PERMIT considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient.Those are from the Declaration of Geneva. My opinion is that Dr Yost's biggest concern is about how much money people are worth, not if he can help them. Never even got the chance to meet him so I know nothing else about him, but if a doctor is that concerned about money, how can he care about people?

Was very disappointed in his bedside manner. He made me feel like I was wasting his time coming in and that my general doctor was an idiot for referring me to him. He went off on a soap box about the issue why I was there and it felt like he was yelling and lecturing me for following my doctors concerns. He was not listening to me or answering my questions, so I had to respond with an attitude in order to be heard. He calmed down a bit after I started giving him attitude, but in a few minutes he went back to yelling at me. He did not say, "it was nice to mee you," "thank you for coming in," "let us know how you are doing," etc. I have worked in doctor offices before and even unfriendly ones but I have never seen the doctors be so rude to the patients as Dr. Yost was to me.

One of the best I have ever had!!! Would recommend to anyone needing a RA doctor!

I was attempting to get an appointment with Dr. Yost after a referral from my primary. His staff was rude and uncooperative both times we spoke. I have suffered with rheumatoid for many years and was hoping to find a doctor that could continue my treatment and maintain my quality of life after my local specialist closed his office. Thank you to the Yost's staff for completely putting me off over the phone and telling me that Dr. Yost would never prescribe the meds that have kept me going for over 6 years without complication. Hopefully the next patient can get to the doctor to see what he says first. Never the less, I will save my 75 mile drive and go another direction after informing my primary of this experience.

Treats patients like they are wasting his time. Talks down to his patients as if he is some superior being and we should just be happy that he allowed us in his presence (god complex?).

Dr. Yost has treated my wife for several years for rheumatoid arthritis and additionally was the physician in charge of her rehab from 2 major strokes. His leadership of one of the finest rehab units enabled my wife to regain nearly 100 percent of her mobility. He is an EXCELLENT doctor who is very professional and caring and provides his patients with the best of medical care. He thoroughly provided us with an extensive evaluation of my wife's condition and consulting with other physicians provided us with an updated prognosis at every step of her rehab. He has continued to monitor her health. Dr. Yost is the professional that you want to be treating any health condition. My wife and I have nothing but the highest of praises for Dr. Yost and his entire medical team.

I have fibromyalgia, and have had a lot of pain for years. It took me a long time to accept fibro as my problem. Dr. Yost has been very helpful in explaining this to me and setting up a treatment program. I am better.

I came to see Dr. Yost for aches and pains, wondered if I might have lupus, or another like disease. After listening to my story, I believed I might have lupus, Dr. Yost examined me and showed me the typical tender points for fibromyalgia. I was concerned this might just be in my head, but he explained that it is a pain disorder related to sleeping poorly. I really appreciated his explanation and patience. Fibromalgia is a very diasabling problem, and I am definitely better since I began his treatment program. Sadly, some people simply deny they have the problem and cling to the hope they have a terrible disease like lupus. I am grateful for his help. If you have fibro or lupus he is a real help!

I was diagnosed with Lupus by an internal medicine DR. My ONE blood test was negative but DRs have told me it sometimes takes months or years for it to show up. Also, it is rare but you can have it and be negative with blood tests. Dr Yost told me that wasn't true. So, all my DRs are lying? ALL the Lupus websites including Lupus Foundation are lying? He said I had no symptoms of Lupus and blamed it all on Fibromylagia. ( I know I spelled wrong, sorry) Fibro doesn't cause a butterfly rash which I had the day of visit with him. It doesn't cause the visible joint inflammation that nurse noticed on my knuckles. AND it certainly doesn't cause you having major infections after another like getting pneumonia 3 times in one year. He wouldn't consider anything else but Fibro because of ONE blood test, nor did he seem interested in drawing more blood. He insulted my weight(I'm 5 ft 3 and a size 10, I'm not THAT heavy), I home school and he asked if they even get to socialize with other children.… WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?? He was condescending and put question marks by the answers I gave him like I was lying. In a nutshell....IT WAS AWFUL!! I walked out of his office in tears. If you have a clear cut case, go see him. But if you need someone to think outside the box and really try to find out what's wrong, this is NOT the Dr for you!
