Dr. Jana Dehovitz, MD

Moved by all the old ratings, to say that in the past 8 years, Dr D has been our much loved doctor for all our kids. Always great with them, always professional and always considerate.

I write this with a sense of relief as I finally had enough and called Dr. D’s office manager C out on her bad attitude. First the good...Dr Dehovitz is terrific. She is smart, gentle, patient, competent, empathetic, and a great listener. All the things you’d want in a pediatrician. She does however have one rotten egg and today I wasn’t tolerating it. Her office manager is RUDE! She’s been rude for the nearly 11 years I’ve been taking my daughter and it’s unacceptable. I called today to ask a question and make an appointment, a very basic, safe to say expected type of phone call. Her office manager was curt and obnoxious. Told her I’d email the dr instead. Now after a little thought, I’m finding a new dr. Just read some unflattering reviews about her staff on Bococa. Dr. Dehovitz you’re too good a dr to have staff like this.

I'm puzzled by all the old negative reviews. I have been coming to this practice since 2005 with my 3 kids and would not change. The care is great, I even have the doctors cell phone number to call after hours but rarely need to call since dr. Dehovitz explains everything so I have no doubts in my mind.

From having visited her with my baby a couple of times, I can say that Dr Dehovitz is probably not a bad doctor. She is friendly and gives you balanced advice.However, overall, the practice really sucks. The administrative staff are extremely poor communicator and not at all considerate towards their clients. When you call the practice for an emergency, I am not sure that the message gets relayed to Dr Dehovitz. One time I called and the advice I got from the receptionist was that if the baby has fever take her to the hospital emergency. Well, that I already know! Dr Dehovitz never came online to speak with me. In my experience they do not care to systematically share the test results and discuss them properly with the parents.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this practice.

With all the competent, responsive and good-natured physicians in NYC there is no need to waste time with this grumpy bunch.The staff is exceptionally rude and Dr. Dehovitz does not seem on top of her game. (misdiagnoses, poor referrals, unreturned calls)

I am shocked by the negative reviews. Dr. Dehovitz and her partner Dr. Laurie are lovely, and so is Danielle the receptionist.

The receptionist is so rude it's shocking. I don't know if the doctor ever even receives her messages; if she does, she does not respond. The lack of attention and care is criminal and heaven help you if your child gets sick after business hours. The receptionist once remonstrated me for calling at five o'clock on a Friday. I would rather my children were cared for by a witch doctor.

Jana Dehovitz seems angry and unpleasant. Calls are not returned for days, staff is rude. (In several years I only placed two calls which asked for a call back.) Her continual referrals to specialists led me to believe she is insecure about her own judgement. All of the trips to the specialists were unnecessary, my child is quite healthy. It was a great relief to change pediatricians.

I have so enjoyed all of our visits with Dr. Dehovitz, who we have been seeing since our daughter was born. She has very sound medical advice, but always explains options. She speaks frankly, but is respectful of parent choice, when there are choices. I trust her and rely on her judgment. I recommend her wholeheartedly!
