Dr. Jeffrey R Kaplan, MD

A visit to Dr. Kaplan is not limited to 3 minutes or so; he is thorough in examining my records and myself and we talk. He listens as thoroughly as he examines. He has been my primary care provider for over two decades, and has treated my hypertension with an effective combination of inexpensive drugs that have kept my BP stable with no side effects. His recommendations of specialists have sent me to similarly excellent practitioners in whom I have great confidence: a general surgeon, a dermatologist, a vascular surgeon, and a urologist.

Has gone concierge complaining he can’t practice medicine the way he wants.. he was lazy and has never put effort in his practice anyway ... went greedy

knowledge, but quirky. sometimes it's like he's not paying attention or he's not looking at your file. much of the time he is focused and has a good plan. been a patient of Dr K for 7 or 8 years. you never know what to expect. he might know exactly what to do, or he might recommend some hokey homeopathic remedy that's both expensive and worthless. Dr K is a "hands off" dr. who won't "zap" a wart and is reluctant to give you a tetanus shot. he *is* likely to recommend a specialist. (no DREs here. this works out as most of us prefer to avoid, but not necessarily good medicine.) recently the office has become increasingly disorganized with patient files stacked all over. this may contribute to what appears to be lack of patient recall.

Dr. Kaplan is always willing to listen and carefully and thoroughly explains all health questions and matters. His office assistant, Pat, is always very helpful and ensures everything is relayed to Dr. Kaplan. His office is very non-clinical and makes you feel at ease.

High professionalism

Doctor Kaplan seems ok. He seems knowledgeable and listens enough. But like many doctors these days, he seems happy enough to just write you a prescription and wish you good luck. It's also IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of anyone in their office. Since there is only one doctor, the hours are totally unworkable for me. Even if you call at 4:00 pm on a Monday, they are closed; at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday they are closed....or nobody would just ever answer the phone. They cant even refill a simple prescription even after the pharmacy has requested it multiple times, they just never reply.

I have been going to Dr. Kaplan for about a year now. I find his office to be quaint and relaxing. Dr. Kaplan takes plenty of time to listen to my questions and concerns. I have had the good fortune of being relatively healthy, so I have not challenged his diagnostic skills. Advice he has offered me so far has been good.There are two big differences I see from my old doctor - Dr. Kaplan does everything by paper, while my old doctor documented all my visits on his laptop, and Dr. Kaplan works solo (I believe he has back-ups for times he is not available)

Really listens and cares. Accessible and kind. Spends enough time to find out what's wrong.

Complete waste of time. Don't recommend.
