Dr. Jeffrey M Sage, DO

I was having difficulty driving at night. And I thought our TV was dying (see attached hockey pics for manually-created approximation of what I was seeing before and after the procedure). So I went in for a consultation and was diagnosed with moderate cataracts. Dr. Sage recently (Oct/Nov. 2019) completed cataract surgeries on both of my eyes. The results are better than I had hoped. I was severely nearsighted (worse than 20/600) and had astigmatism. I needed glasses or contact lenses for over 45 years. Now, I no longer need glasses - with an occasional exception in that I sometimes use reading glasses for reading tiny tiny print. Again, better than I hoped. As other reviewers have said, Dr. Sage is very kind and has a wonderful bedside manner. On multiple occasions during the process, I had some questions. Dr. Sage was always responsive and attentive. He never made me feel like I was being rushed or brushed aside. He was patient and explained things clearly. I called… the office a couple of times with some questions that I thought could be answered by an office assistant or office manager. But before I knew it, Dr. Sage was on the phone with me and took his time to address my questions/concerns. On a side note, for comparison purposes, during this process, I went to a second group for a cataract surgery consultation. Although the other group had a fancy schmancy office that reminded me of a high-end day spa, their doctors and reps made me feel like I was being a nuisance when I posed questions or concerns. Dr. Sage's office space is less pretentious and his focus is obviously on the actual procedures - which was more important to me than mood lighting and background music. Also, that other group pressured me to opt for the laser-assisted upgrade, which I could not afford. I felt like they were shaming me into spending more and I felt like their priority was to make money and my vision was in the back seat. Although Dr. Sage presented this laser assisted procedure as an option, after I told him I could not afford the upgrade, he never mentioned it again. As stated previously, the results of my procedures, even without the laser assistance, are better than I had hoped. I believe Dr. Sage is truly interested in his patients' well-being. I am so grateful to have connected with Dr. Sage for my cataract surgical procedures and I highly recommend him to anyone else who is considering the same procedure.

I had a great experience with this Dr , he was kind and was very thorough with my exam .. I had been to other Drs and they couldn't figure out what was causing my eye problems but Dr. Sage took care of it . Thank you Dr. Sage

Nice but complacency or lack of competence led to delay in referral to a retina specialist. Had to be proactive or else who knows what would have happened?

I couldn't say enough about Dr Sage , I've been his patient for 11 years and he is the best Dr ever. He is courteous , kind and a great physician , he did my cataract surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results..His staff is always friendly and nice too..

Worst MD experience ever....charged over $400. and only saw me for 3 minutes. Said they except Medicare. Had some Mexican nurses aide give me an eye exam. I said I didn't want one and she said I had to have one or I couldn't see the doctor...Medicare paid him over $250. and his office aggressively tried to get me to pay $150. I am on social security and am poor. His office is crappy near downtown LA He turned the account over to a collection agency. I explained in detail to the collection agency what happened and they said they were no longer trying to collect this bogus debt. This guy is a ripoff and do not visit Dr. Sage especially if you are on Medicare.
