Dr. Jennifer Lynn Kurth, DO

Dr. Kurth treated my adolescent in an out patient program. While we were open to meds as part of treatment, klonopin was introduced early in the conversation by the doctor and seemed to be the go to drug to get young patients stabilized quickly. Dosage was quickly increased to the point of concern and despite repeated requests to discuss dosage it was only after I reached out to another administrator that Dr. Kurth replied. She initially disputed the dosage until I shared the prescription in her name. She then attributed the mistake to the nurse and the pharmacy. She promised to inquire into how it happened and respond to me. Never did. She reduced the dosage dramatically, leading to withdrawal symptoms. Her practice seemed sloppy and benzo dependent. In a very corporate type of treatment environment, the short term result seemed to be the focus, regardless of long term risk.

I would not recommend Dr. Kurth. Initially, we believed we had found a good doctor for our child. Kurth spent plenty of time with us, had all the right credentials, and appeared to listen and treat our case seriously. Then we found we were dealing with a robot who believes she is almighty and infallible. Frankly, she is strange - what one tells her, and what she hears, doesn't resemble each other at all. Also, you cannot even hint at questioning her diagnosis or treatment, or she will become VERY defensive. We finally sought a second opinion and found she had misdiagnosed our child - as we had long suspected. Proceed at your own risk.

I must attribute Dr. Jen Kurth (when I was a patient at Loyola, Illinois) to being one of the most practical and caring professionals I have had the pleasure of meeting. Not only did she help me as a person, but she listened to my problems and concerns with medication. I only wish she had continued adult psychiatry, as my current doctor is not quite up to par. Helped us a lot. Teenage daughter had social anxiety and would not go to school. Therapist and previous MD of Psychiatrist wasn't helping anymore. We were happy to find Dr. Kruth. She helped our daughter manage her anxiety and to understand/look into what she could control. Today daughter is a H S senior and planning for college. She is one of the most mature 17 year-olds I know.

I am a new patient of hers, and she does actually care about her patients, granted I am an adult, and have seen my share of horrible Psychiatrists, I dont believe she is one of them. I also believe if I was in her shoes, I might be scrambling around too. Your not going to stay at the same practice all your life, so when you do decide to move, things are going to be hectic. I dont mind having to wait in the office for a half hour even though I am a student and work, I plan on getting into the field, an hope my patients won't want me to be a superhero, or someone who is perfect at all things. "We're just Human."

Something went terribly wrong with this woman. This is not her field of expertise. She's not a doctor I felt comfortable with. Got a second opinion and third opinion from some of the top Psychiatrists in Illinois who have over 30+ years of experience and both of them disagreed with her.

Dr. Kurth is a robot. Her job can be done by a robot. Pt. will say one thing and she will write another. She is scatter brained and often mishears what she heard. She is personable and very defensive. How she got board certified is beyond me. She will lie (and has lied) to get patients and refer them to other MDs/Clinics. Very untrustworthy and has an archaic knowledge of the psychiatric field.
