Dr. Jennifer Subodh Shroff, MD

I had a colonoscope appointment with her. Went through the terrible PEG flushing step steps only find out my appointment was a week earlier! They refused to see me on site. There is no any communication before or after the "missed" appointment. No explanation. Only thing they told me on site is that the person scheduled me was not there any more. I was traumatized by the medication and ignorance. This is only well-being checking for me. What are for people really need treatment? I would not trust my life in their hands. if I can give -5 star, i will do! I never give negative review online. I hope this is the first and last one that I HAVE to post.

I credit Dr. Shroff with literally having saved my life. I’ve been a patient of hers for about 3 yrs now, and when I first visited her, I was severely malnourished and drastically losing copious amounts of weight. Other GI drs acknowledged the existence of an ailment, but were not as focused and serious as she when it came to discovering the reason behind my symptoms. They continually dismissed me and minimized my symptoms, perhaps due to insecurities concerning their own severely limited abilities as diagnosticians. By the time I saw her, I was inching toward 100 lbs and there was still no clear diagnosis. But she took me more seriously than any physician ever had at that point, and she did her due diligence to conduct the necessary exams that eventually led to my current diagnosis. She also took immediate steps to see to it that I had adequate nutritional support, by having me consult with a dietitian, with whom she collaborated to initiate enteral nutrition (and eventually… parenteral nutrition) as part of my treatment. She has a great deal of integrity re: choosing the most appropriate (specific to each individual patient) treatments for her patients. She remembers every single detail of every matter we discuss at each appt; she’s very accessible via patient portal messages and her M.A. Lisette (who happens to be the most competent medical asst out of all my drs’ assistants). She is not the kind of dr who prescribes a treatment, and then waits several months to find out its efficacy. The outcomes of her prescribed treatments are of vital importance to her as she follows each case. Some drs nonchalantly propose a treatment and take personal offense if it’s not effective, holding the patient personally responsible for the failed treatment attempt. But her motive behind treating her pts is not an ego-driven one; it rather flows from simply a genuine desire to improve her pts’ overall health. I appreciate her efforts in my life so much because I always feel acknowledged, validated, and appreciated for taking ownership of my own role in improving my health. Her method of practicing medicine is collaborative, not dictatorial. In fact, her humility in acknowledging the pt’s personal role in their own care is completely refreshing and validating. I’m so glad that UT emphasizes the value of medical interns and residents learning from more experienced physicians because Dr. Shroff possesses such an absolute wealth of not only knowledge, but also wisdom re: how to best implement that knowledge and communicate it to future GI specialists. She has so much knowledge, wisdom, experience, and strength of character to offer patients and colleagues-in-training, all undergirded by a gentle, friendly, overall pleasant personality. I’m beyond grateful God brought me to her when He did.
