Dr. Jennifer Wheeler, PhD

Before I write my review I want to clarify that my lawyer chose Dr. Wheeler and I agreed , (However, I have no knowledge of her when I made this decision.), our review was NOT court ordered, and in the end, I did not lose anything in terms of custody. What I learned later is that Dr. Wheeler is known for being very pro-father and I what I observed is that she has an extreme cultural bias towards very calm WASPy mannerisms, and if you are a strong woman, particularly of Latin descent, (Think My Big Fat Greek Wedding families.) you will not win. During our assessment, Dr. Wheeler decided to ignore everything one of my 13 year old twin boys told her – also the twin who has inherited my Latin temperament – she simply decided that he wasn’t telling the truth – including that his father had choked him. Never mind that their father has a previous history of doing this to the other twin. My kids have some learning and emotional difficulties, and I had a example after example of their father… procrastinating and stonewalling so that the children were not getting what they needed. I gave these examples and their father simply lied and she didn’t probe. I asked to give her emails and texts to prove what I was saying and she told me the lawyer had to give them to her. Unfortunately, the lawyer never did, but neither did Dr. Wheeler question where these were before she completed the report, when I kept saying I had them as proof. When the kids and I explained that their stepmother suffered from severe anxiety and depression and it was causing issues, she did not test the stepmother and she allowed everyone to be tested without being proctored. When it came to interviewing collaterals, all of my collaterals spoke briefly of how they viewed me as a mother or mentor. They were not allowed to speculate She allowed my ex’s collateral to spend 3 pages ranting about issues that she knew nothing about, and was all incorrect speculation. All of this is very suspect. In the end, Dr. Wheeler created a report that did nothing to help my children, when it was obvious they were in emotional need and all she did was make parents who were already in high conflict continue to have to interact in a manner that was unproductive. All of this to the tune of $15, 000.00 When my ex had to go for a domestic violence assessment, they called to tell me that while they believed he was actually a level 4 offender, there wasn’t much they could do because Dr. Wheeler had spoken so highly about what a great dad he was. My kids are completely screwed. Do NOT use her under any circumstances. I should NEVER have lost this case with all the evidence I had. Use Dr. Daniel Rybicki.
