Dr. John H. Cathcart IIi, MD

Dr. Cathcart did a reverse total shoulder replacement on my mother. He was very patient with both of us. Listened well and explained everything thoroughly. I feel he went above and beyond for my mom and I am extremely grateful. Highly recommend Dr. Cathcart.

Dr. Cathcart lacks the ability to make and keep a schedule, like most doctors it seems these days. If you have an appointment at 830am, expect you MIGHT get to see the the doc by 10am...if you’re lucky. Ridiculous. Oh, and schedule surgery arrival at 1030am and for a 430pm procedure that doesn’t start till 7pm and lasts an hour. Then decides not to release the patient the next morning so they get to stay at the hospital ALL DAY for NO REASON other than his oversight. Unprofessional. Poor communication. Decent surgeon at least. (So far)

Had a very positive experience. While brief, Dr Cathcart was very efficient & effective.

Almost 3 years ago I saw this doctor for a dislocated shoulder, fractured humerus and turns out significant brachial plexus trauma. The nerve damage was not picked up until too late. He also argued with me, insisting I couldn't be on more pain medicine because I was already on an opioid. I wasn't. (He later admitted I wasn't.) I was in severe pain and sat in the cold exam room twice while he and his staff laughed and talked outside the room for a considerable length of time. I ended up at the Mayo Clinic but it was too late to do anything about the nerve damage. I am still in pain and probably will be for the rest of my life.

Dr. Cathcart did my son's ACL Reconstruction surgery in Dec. of 2014. I was very pleased with all of our visits with him. He was honest, patient, friendly, and my son was very comfortable with him. All of our questions were answer. The surgery went great and my son has made a full recovery. The staff was always friendly and his nurses always greeted us with a smile. Every time I called with a concern I always got a call back the same day. We are completely satisfied with our entire experience.

This MD was quite rude and very much in a hurry. When asked questions about my MRI, he did not answer the questions and appeared very annoyed that he was asked any questions at all. He was dismissive regarding pain and concerns. When my physical therapist asked him for orders or to give a progress/lack of progress report he would usually reply "Whatever you want to do" or "Just discontinue the PT".

Horrible bedside manner. Rude. In a hurry. did not read my records. Unnecessary X-rays.
