Dr. John James Demakas

This is very painful... John has passed on. He was many things in life. All good. For me, as a surgeon he helped me stay alive and functional. But so much more as a friend. I loved him. I loved every minute with him. Truly a gift from God. Goodbye, John. Rest in Peace with the eternal gratitude of so many whose lives you touched.

I was placed under Dr. Demakas care in 1982 after developing a seizure disorder while on active duty on an aircraft carrier in the NAVY. He reviewed the test data and developed a plan to place a clip on an artery in my temporal lobe right side which involved removing a section of my cranium to get at the area and reinstalling that part of the cranium after a slip had been installed. His excellence and skill as a technician and physician allowed me to continue in my career and I have no loss of mobility or vision functions. Well done Doctor!! On a side note, approximately ten years ago I was visiting an eye clinic in Guatemala staffed by visiting Doctors from the Spokane area. I mentioned that Dr. Demakas had moved there and each of them had glowing remarks about his professionalism and skills.

I was in so much pain for so long, when I finely had an apt. With him, I was so happy, I respected his opinion alot, because he helped my brother. I have always worked hard but the pain got the better of me and was in bed for 3 years, I was at the end of my rope, went into his office so hopfull to get my life back. Only for him to say it was in my head. My daughter was with me and we both cried. I didn't give up, but it still took around a year to find a doctor that said he could help me. That Dr. Took the time to look at my MRI. The worst part is, is that it was a surgeon from the same office as Demakas. I wish I would have been scheduled with him from the get go.

He did a double level fusion lower back an straight up lied to me saying it fused perfect 8 years later I found out it had never fused an demakas would not see me long story short I have had three more operations an three more to go I was 23 when he did my operation an ruined everything constant pain can't work an I also found out he did the same thing to my mom an a friend stay away this guy is sick an shouldn't b a Doctor he only cares about his paycheck not people

Dr Demakas performed a fusion on my lower back almost 10 years ago. It was the best thing I ever did for myself and by the best doctor. I was in my mid-fifties. The nurses at the Doctors office all told me I would be in a lot of pain for several days and that I wouldn't feel really well for months. I was without pain within 2 days and completely well within a week. I was ecstatic at the results the very same day as the surgery.

Dr.Demaks performed a surgery that left me with chronic pain for the rest of my life. After lying to me he dumped me. STAY AWAY!

Great doctor. I felt assured that I was getting the best medical care I could get. Dr. Demakas has a great bedside manner. Very personable and easy to talk to.

I have had two diskectomy surgeries performed by Dr Demakas eighteen years apart. Both had very good outcomes. While Dr Demakas spends minimal time, his staff including his nurse practitioner, are very pleasant and professional.

Dr Demakas did surgery on my back. He put a cage around 3 of my vertebrae and I was up the next day walking and have not had the same persistant pain that I had for over 2 years. I can't believe how wonderful I feel even 2 weeks after surgery. I expected to have my recovery time be much longer. I would recommend him to any one.
