Dr. John Patrick Holden, MD

Dr. Holden gave such great care to my wife during her recent hysterectomy. He was kind and caring and compassionate, answering any questions we had both before and after the procedure.

I found Dr. Holden very confident and kind and a doctor I felt I can trust. I was terrified to have surgery but so glad I did. I feel a 100 times better and recovered quickly. I would recommend him to any woman having female issues.

people if your thinkin about using this doctor please think twice.he has no compasion.and hes only in it for the money.make sure u stay on him and also make sure he does all the requried test before u proceed with in-vetro

I liked the doctor, but not after the bills came. I don't typically write reviews, but I had such a terrible experience. The office billed my insurance for tests they didn't perform and an inaccurate diagnosis that caused my insurance to deny my claim on several occasions. The office I'm certain did this on purpose to try and charge me more money. That's all the office/doctor wanted was more and more tests and money when all I needed was a $9 perscription for Clomid. I ended up getting my perscription from a website and ditching this doctor, who never did give me the prescription I wanted.

Dr.Holden is simply awesome. He helped me and my husband with our twins, and I can't be more thankful. He is a God send. The only issue I've had almost every time is with the head nurse. She is simply very rude.

My husband and I were going through a very rough time as he had only recently been diagnosed with a serious illness and we were told the treatment would leave him sterile. We were referred to Dr. Holden. At the initial meeting I was told I had an old and decrepit uterus (I was 35 at the time). Feeling desparate, we scheduled a dye test but I cancelled at the last minute because his rude and unprofessional staff refused to answer my questions before the procedure, which I learned would be painful. After my husband completed treatment, we went back to have him tested and we were told "everything is normal, go home and try on your own, you don't need me anymore." However, after a year of trying, we were still not pregnant so we met with another doctor. Turns out after all this time, Dr. Holden read my husband's test results incorrectly so we have to start all over again anyway. Don't go here for anything! See the other doctors at the clinic in Rockford or drive to Chicago if you… have to!

Dr. Holden is very knowledgeable, but as a doctor with knowledge needs to come good communication with patients. I have been seeing Dr. Holden for 8 months and have seen him once for an initial appointment, second for another consult, third for a procedure, and fourth to get an okay to remove eggs. I am pregnant and have not seen or heard from him in 3 months. He has a nurse that pretty much runs the show, she is incredibly rude and disrespectful. His other nurses are decent as well as his front office staff. His head nurse will basically tell you that you are wrong, inpatient, and are simply a number to Dr. Holden. If you feel the need to speak to YOUR doctor and ask to, do not expect a call back, he will not receive the message. As a patient with questions you will not be listened to, his head nurse will feel challenged and get even ruder. Trying to have a baby is a joyous adventure, when infertility is involved it can become a sad and long journey. I feel that an office that works… with men and women in these situations should show compassion, instead I feel like a dollar sign. I feel as though I am a problem, when I shouldn't. I think this office would be great if cahnges were made in certain employees and the doctor showed more interest in his patients. Make this office your last resort!

Dr. Holden seems like a nice guy (when things are going well), but if you want or need the most current infertility treatments, I would recommend to a friend that they interview a few doctors before deciding. I know it's easy to stay local, but having a baby is a big deal in your life, and you need to do your own research. It seemed to me after I moved on to a Reproductive Endocrinologist that Dr. Holden (an OBGYN) was not current with the latest testing, medication protocols and laparoscopic surgeries. Plus, to be as effective as possible, I think an infertility practice needs to be open more than 4 or 5 days a week for accurately timed IUI and IVF. (By the way, he sends his IVF patients to other doctors at FCI in Chicago for egg retrieval and embryo transfer - better that you know now vs. later.) If yours is an easy, straight forward case, you may get lucky, but if your case is the least bit complicated, I would say, be cautious. And never be afraid to get a second opinion. … On-line forums and fertility success rate websites are good places to start looking for someone new.

Dr. Holden is a knowledgeable, professional, very compassionate doctor. He spent a great deal of time with me explaining what needed to happen and what he wanted to try. His staff is top notch and just what you'd expect from a doctor like John Holden. If you want a doctor who tells you like it is and sticks to his word, go see Dr. Holden.

Unprofessional, no diagnosis, waste of almost a year for him to tell me I couldn't have kids and guess what - I'm pregnant! He is an idiot!
