very thorough and easy to talk to

This guy doesn’t even deserve to be called doctor. He spent about 2 minutes in the examining room seated about 4 feet away from me and said, “I don’t see anything wrong with you” without even examining me at all! Seriously, no examination whatsoever. And he knows nothing about the disease for which I was referred to a rheumatologist for, diffuse systemic scleroderma. All he knows is the Greek for which it was termed, sclero meaning “hard” and derma meaning “skin”. Like, did he just google that minutes before entering the exam room. I gotta wonder. He didn’t even know the first thing about diagnosing localized scleroderma, which is a skin score test, according to the medical info I’ve read about the disease. Not only that, he started bashing on the doctors who did recognize my symptoms, questioning their knowledge and reason for referring me for further examination. Worst of all, he accused me of having read the symptoms online and using that information to fabricate my illness. … His horrendous treatment so flabbergasted me that I left his office in tears and didn’t get the biopsy of a cancerous looking mole and surrounding scalp lesions which were the real reason I made an appointment with him in the first place. I already have a rheumatologist to help me with scleroderma treatments. I wasn’t there for help with that. But, unfortunately, I made the mistake of mentioning my illness to the pre-exam nurse when she asked me how I was doing. She obviously relayed my ailments to Knox and he entered the examination room armed and ready with an instantaneous cure made up of his good old outdated education, pure bias and preconceived disbelief. Gee, wouldn’t it be great if all disease could be cured by someone with a PhD just saying it isn’t so. Pshaw! Well, here’s my advice to you, Mr. Hard Knox: YOU should READ the internet and learn what’s up in modern medical advancements while you’re working on that golden vacay tan of yours. Or better yet, retire.

Every time I come to Dr. Knox I have to wait for at least 30 Minutes past my scheduled appointment time. I know he tends to talk story with patients and tell about his personal experiences but he should be more mindful of the other patients waiting.

Dr. Knox loudly berated my college-age daughter; made incorrect assumptions leading to premature, inaccurate diagnosis; constantly interrupted and talked over both of us; was arrogant and dismissive in manner; jumped to conclusions; and ultimately completely missed the boat in terms of accurate diagnosis and management. For the first time in my life, I walked out of a medical appointment (with her) after multiple attempts to have a mutual, respectful conversation. He did not "get" the fact that his behavior and premature diagnostic assumptions were problematic--in fact, he seemed smug and quite pleased with himself. This visit made the top five worst doctor-patient interactions I have ever witnessed (and by far the worst I have personally experienced), which is saying something, as I have been in the business of educating medical residents for over 25 years, and have supervised literally thousands of such interactions. It was dramatic enough that I wondered if Dr. Knox had become… hard of hearing, was having cognitive problems, or perhaps was under extreme personal duress--otherwise it is difficult to reconcile this disastrous appointment with his training and experience. Clearly, quality of care suffered as a result, and we had to seek a dermatologic opinion elsewhere. Shocking and almost surreal--I was mentally pinching myself, thinking "this can't really be happening".

Dr. knox is great. He helped me twice. And i love him. Hes is a great doctor!!!!

Dr Knox is willing to take time to talk to you about your issues. He is really nice, professional and knowledgeable. His nurse is incredibly genuinely kind and nice to talk to. I have an incredibly embarassing and painful issue I see him for, and he acts like it's no big deal so Im not terrifyingly embarassed. LOVE!

Wonderful doctor

I had a cyst removed from the back of my neck. The day after the removal, the incision site began bleeding; I spent the weekend changing the dressing. Went back to Dr. he pulled stitches out & redressed site. Temp fix; it started bleeding again, this went on for several days/nights, I was never told I should go to emergency, because his office is closed on the weekends. I did go to emergency, and the surgeon said the incision made looked to large, he plugged it with a special foam to stop the bleeding. I had to pay an more $$ for the emergency. He's a nice Dr., but I very upset I had to take time off work & pay for emergency services. My PCP told me Dr. Knox should not have performed the procedure, having known my medical history. Like I said, he's a nice Dr., but I'd think twice if you're going to have any surgery performed.
