He kept trying to get me to take Xanax. I don't want Xanax. It's highly addictive. He's soooo rude and he actually told me I was rude? Weirdest doctor experience everrr.

I have been using Dr. John for years. At first, when going through a tough divorce he help get proper meds and was always courteous and helped me talk through things logically. After all that passed, I still find it beneficial for my daily life to see him periodically

find it interesting that all of the 1 star reviews of Dr. Laubenthal appear to be from the same person. I have been treated by Dr. Laubenthal for 5 years and he has helped me tremendously. I am no longer taking Ambien or Xanax and have improved mentally, physically, and emotionally. When I first visited him, he informed me that I needed to remove the negative medicines that I am currently taking. This took many months and it was a hard process. I am now independent again and only take a medication for my depression. My health is good and I now exercise daily and am in a healthy relationship. Dr. Laubenthal is the first physician in 20 years that truly helped me reclaim my life. To the people/most likely person that gave him one star, my guess is that you just came to him for Xanax. Thank you Dr. Laubenthal!!!!!!

I have read many negative reviews online, but Laubenthal posted that everyone should ignore these negative reviews from strangers. So I ignored them and scheduled an appt with him. Worst doctor visit ever. Never going back.

This is the WORST doctor ever. He is so insensitive and uncaring. I went in for an evaluation and I was telling him my symptoms, and he entire time he sat back in his chair, arms folded, eyes rolled. He then cut me off and said "I'm just gonna cut you off here because I have a feeling that you're just gonna keep on going and going and going, and never stop!" I looked at my boyfriend in shock that he said that, and then he proceede to ask my boyfriend (visit was suppose to be about me, not my boyfriend) about his personal financial information. I asked him to open his DSM (the psychiatric book that psychiatrists MUST use in America to diagnose) to properly diagnose me and he completely refused. It was lying right beside his hand, and he said, "I don't have to go by what this book says! I'm just gonna give you my OPINION on what you have." I said, "I'm paying for to be a doctor and give me a proper diagnosis," and he said "FINE! I'll just say you have OCD! Are you happy now?" I told him… he was being rude and he has no compassion, and he said that I'm the one being rude, and that I shouldn't bother scheduling another appointment. I've never been treated like this by ANY doctor. My boyfriend and I are shocked at his lack of bedside manners and his lack of professionalism, and refusing to use the actual Psychiatric book. PLEASE, do not go and waste your money! The people giving good reviews must be friends of his, or they're happy because they're getting their Adderall addiction refilled every two weeks. Worst doctor ever.

I have been seeing Dr. Laubenthal for almost a decade. He always been professional, yet goes about his business as a sort of partner in your well-being. Very highly recommended.

When I first came to Dr. Laubenthal, I wasn't sure what to expect. I needed to make a doctor change because of insurance coverage. When I met with Dr. L, I had been on a variety of depression meds, including a controlled medication (Xanax) for 10 years. He let me know up-front that he would not write a script for Xanax, and that he wanted to make a plan to get me off the drug. At first I was very apprehensive about this because I felt that I couldn't function without it. But he was frank with me about the effects of the drug on my body and mind. He said that if I'd give him a chance, he could help me and that after a given amount of time, if he wasn't helping me, we might need to discuss other options, including a change of doctor. (He has never promoted himself over other doctors, but has a humble confidence in his ability to practice good medicine. In turn, this has encouraged my assuredness in his competence.) It's been almost two years since I first walked through his… office doors. It's the best decision I've ever made. He made a plan to slowly and safely get me off Xanax and made some other med changes, and I feel better than I've ever felt. He's always taken whatever time is necessary. In the beginning, he allowed for longer appointments. But now that I'm stabilized, my appointments are shorter. I've rarely had to wait longer than 5 minutes for my appointment, which I appreciate because I have kids and a busy schedule. As I'm leaving, he always says, "call us if you need us" and he really means it. Additionally, he has always discussed whatever drug might be most beneficial for me and also talks about finding affordable options. Dr. L is a great psychiatrist. He hasn't always said what I want to hear, but he has said (and continues to say) what I NEED to hear. If I disagree, I'm always free to find another doctor. But just because I might disagree, that doesn't make him a bad doctor. He's always had my best interest in mind, and I think that makes him a great doctor.

Dr. Laubenthal is friendly and professional. I've found him attentive in conversation and thorough in his considerations.
