Dr. Jon Martin Wiseman, MD

Dr Wiseman has been my doctor for more than 30 years, and I have found every positive thing said by other reviewers to be true. He is expert, cautious, judicious, kind, professional and so on and so forth. The one negative review is so off from the doctor I know as to be laughable. I give him full marks and much much more.

Knowledgeable and personal. A caring and thorough Doctor.

Dr. Wiseman has been my PCP for 30+ years. Very practical and goes way above doing what's expected. Very thoughtful and IMHO, explains things to you so you know what's going on.

There are good doctors everywhere, but there are only a few that really care about you as a patient and as a living, breathing person. Dr. Wiseman is not only an exceptional diagnostician but someone you can relate to as both a Doctor and a Friend. He is always there when you need him for yourself or a member of your family. Dr. Wiseman not only stands head and shoulders above other physicians but is a truly wonderful human being.

Jon Wiseman has met all my high expectations with respect to availability and quality of care.

I would like to share the following observations that I made over the course of 5 or more visits that I had with Dr. Wiseman.Dr. Wiseman demonstrated:1)Poor communication skills2)Poor time management skills 3)Arrogance4)A low level of respect for patientsRationale:1) Poor Communication Skills: Dr. Wiseman made sarcastic and unconstructive comments in response to my revealing that I was seeing a psychiatrist. His comments demonstrated a disdain for the psychiatric profession when he said (paraphrasing) "You can spend the rest of your life talking about your problems to a psychiatrist or I can help you by prescribing medication". His comments helped to cloud my understanding of an important (but poorly communicated) diagnosis he made a few weeks later.2) Poor Time Management Skills. After starting my appointment 15 minutes late he made me wait for another 20 minutes in the examination room. When Dr. Wiseman finally arrived he proceeded to examine me for about 5 minutes until a… receptionist transferred a personal phone call into the examination room. Dr. Wiseman took the call and proceeded to discuss his social plans for the upcoming weekend that involved coaching or umpiring a baseball game. The call lasted 15 minutes. The distraction of the call caused him to re-start the examination and ask redundant questions that he had already covered.3) Doctor Wiseman's unprofessional opinions, his lack of restraint in expressing them and his tone reveal an arrogant personality that may cause him to pre-judge patients before allowing himself to conduct a full examination and consider all the relevant medical facts. He seems to hold pharmacology and the quick fix it promises in the highest esteem rather than viewing it as one of many possible treatment modalities. 4) All of what I outlined above demonstrates that Dr. Wiseman may have a low-level of respect for his patients. I have never before met a doctor who would so freely bash a legitimate medical profession and allow his biases to cloud his judgement and alienate a patient.My overall assessment is that Dr. Wiseman's communication skills and arrogance impede his ability to listen and perhaps provide patients with high quality care. His poor time management skills may effect his fees and expense to insurance providers. Perhaps if Dr. Wiseman refrained from expressing his unprofessional opinions and taking personal calls while on the job, the aggregate annual time saved would reduce the amount of money he charges to patients and insurance providers.

A very caring and courteous doctor. He gets the job done, and done right.
