Dr. Joseph Samuel Gimbel, MD

I was part of a research study that he was in charge of. Unfortunately I did not respond to the pain meds and was discharged from the study. Per the agreement with the study if I was to get discharged I could leave. I opted to leave and go home. Dr. Grimbel came in and proceeded to tell me that he would like for me to stay but I told him that I would prefer to go home. He than told me that I commited to 3 days and I need to stay. I told him that I was discharged from the study and he tried to tell me that no I was not. And then told me that if he knew that I wouldn't of stayed for 3 days that he would never have chosen me for the study. He then proceeded to say that I lied to him. I informed him that I never lied that I would have stayed if I was still in the study which I was not. He still tried to belittle me and then tell me that he had to pay $10,000.00 for me to have the surgery and then he still has to pay for my after care. He kept on saying that I should stay as… well as I will get paid for the study. Although the study contract states that you do not get paid i you get discharged. He made me feel like I could not leave and had to stay there. Lucky for me I do have a background in medial and legal so I know my rights. But his bedside manner was completely uncalled for. I did confront him on his behavior and he did apologize for his actions then proceeded to do his discharge assesment then he went to go listen to my heart and made a comment "Oh you do have a heart." Really!!! Who says this to a patient. When does this guy stop. I would not choose this for a doctor. Stay clear away. Plus Iunderstand that he speaks to hus staff this way as well. They have had 12 people quit in a period of 1 month because of him.

Professed to be able to help me with a hip problem when other doctors could not. Kept having me come back for the money and when I said it was clear he could not help me he objected and said I needed his help. The very next visit, he admitted he could not help me. Wasted my time. He is very impressed with himself. Staff was weird.

I was in a ton of pain and they were able to diagnose and treat me that day. I feel great!
