Dr. Joseph C Yellin, DO

I went to see him cause I was referred by my doctor for an newly diagnosed condition this man yelled at me acted like he had some type of anger issue because I asked him a question about his attitude and he went completely off on me didn’t want to treat me until I refused to leave the office because I need answers. He needs to be investigated cause I have never in my whole life dealt with any one like this. He then did a neuro exam as expected but was very nonchalant and then said he was referring me to a doctor with knowledge of my condition which is his specialty so whichbhas me wondering if he didn’t want to treat me cause of my race. Stay away from this place he needs to be reported very horrible individual smh this has been bothering me for the last week I never felt such ridicule from a Health professional.

yelled at me, called me names, withheld medication as a retaliatory measure.

I made an appointment with doctor Yellin as he sees some people that I know and had an opening to see me the very next day which was great as I needed answers for my problems. Lets just say that was a huge mistake. Dr Yellin is an extremely rude and harsh man. I went in for leg pain and tingling and burning. He blamed it mainly on my anxiety but after much at my request he finally ordered an MRI. When I got the MRI he refused to even look at the images but only the vague report. I asked why he just said the report is good enough. He even said he does not have the equipment to look at the disks when in fact the laptop he was using for my EMG could have read the CD perfectly. I even offered to open the images for him but he seemed insulted by that so I let him continue the EMG. Funny thing is that the EMG I had was on my arms when I went to him for issues with my legs. The initial neurological examination very quick and not through at all. When I explained to him my fears he said… its all anxiety and nothing is wrong with my back when it turns out I had bulging disks and bone spurs. The bulging disks are not causing the pain as no nerves were impinged but the tingling and burning persists. He then wrote me a prescription for a very old drug that has tons a side effects. After the first week on that drug I felt worse than I ever did. I had to get another drug from my GP which did not stop the pain fully but it helped much more than what Dr Yellin prescribed. I have since not made an appointment with doctor Yellin and was refereed to another more compassionate neurologist through my GP who will review my CDS personally and conduct a full neurological study. Dr Yellin is not the patient or compassionate type. Furthermore, he does not work well with patients who have anxiety nor want a comprehensive explanation. Stay away from his practice and find somebody else or you will be wasting your time, money, and mental health especially if you are the type of person who wants complete answers that are easy to understand. For someone who has so much experience he sure does have alot of openings which is great if you are in a hurry. But it made me wonder why he has so many openings yet all other neurologists in the city take weeks or even months to get in. Goes to show many people must not go to this doctor for a reason.

I read the previous reviews and was a little skeptical about seeing this Dr. However, after getting stellar recommendations I decided to pay Dr. Yellin a visit. He was very professional and thorough. He had a Dr's sense of humor but in no way was it offensive or harsh like the previous comments. I have been having debilitating migraines, that kept me from my work and family. After numerous tests, and investigations he was able properly diagnos my condition. He is a great doctor, I've been to other neurologist who did not take the time that Dr Yellin did to properly diagnose me. If it wasn't for him I do not know what I would have done.

Dr. Yellin really knows his stuff and is very friendly and courteous. I wouldn't go anywhere else, I would reccomend him to everyone.

I read the negative post by the previous reviewer before seeing Dr. Yellin yet I went to see him anyway which I deeply regret. I had a similar disappointing experience. I went because I was desperate and thought the New York Headache Center had a good reputation. This turned out not to be the case. I have no idea how this man came to be a doctor. He is condescending and harsh. I have debilitating migraines for which I am currently on disability. He looked at me as if I were crazy and told me to go back to work. Then he gave me an infusion of magnesium which he said would take away my headache right away. It did absolutely nothing for me. Also, when he was giving me the magnesium, he said that I would feel like I was in heat. It was very creepy. If you suffer from headaches I would not recommend this doctor.

This Dr. was a referral . He dismissed my symptoms and was nonchalant about my symptoms as well making me feel as if they were in my head. When I described how I was feeling he made an inappropriate comment , he stated nothing that a shot of vodka couldnt cure. He also stated, go back to work it will distract you and then the dr. sent me for brain MRI. He never called me to follow up, nor did he call me to let me know my results. I had to find out my results from the MRI facility. Thank God it came back clear. But, the dr. never called to follow up for any further testing. I went to another neurologist because my symptoms became worse and after many many of tests I was diagnosed with a serious rare blood disorder condition. Some of the nerve damage will be permanent because I was not diagnosed soon enough, thanks to Dr. Yellin and his casual demeanor. And I am out of work on disability yet another thing the Dr. was wrong about.The problem is because Dr. Yellin can only see black or… white. If he cant diagnosis you then its all made up in your head apparently. Most Drs have this problem , I think Im GOD attitude. Instead of realizing there can be a grey area which was my case, Dr. Yellin just dismissed me and my condition without further testing or evaluation. I have contemplated suing dr. yellin for the damage he did to me mentally. I felt as if I was crazy and could push through my symptoms. After seeing a REAL neurologist who cared and took the time, step by step to find out what was causing my symptoms, all I really want is to make sure this doesnt happen to someone else. Dont be fooled by Dr. Yellins fancy degrees because the articles written about him were based on conditions that anyone could see in an MRI. Find out if Dr. Yellin has ever diagnosed rare disease that is not so black and white. You will find out that he didnt.
