Dr. Judith Lee Lewis, DO

I was lucky enough to be referred by a physician friend and was accepted for diagnosis and treatment within a couple of days. I was in constant, excruciating, debilitating pain even in bed. I could walk only with even worse pain. I was initially diagnosed - not by my primary care doctor, with lower back pain caused possibly by the compression at the lowest vertebrae shown on an x-ray. However, when my primary care physician saw me, rather than send me to a back specialist, he sent me to Dr. Lewis. Using her exceptional knowledge of muscle, tendons, and body structure, she researched the issue and over the first two visits identified four specific muscles that were causing the pain, muscles with very painful cramps (I can't remember the technical term) that refuse to release. Over the next two months, over only 8 therapeutic visits, she was able to normalize the muscles for complete relief. She also worked with me to change my walking, sitting, and standing habits to avoid such… painful cramps in the future.

I have gone to Dr. Lewis over the years for a number of issues related to posture and neck pain. Dr. Lewis has helped me tremendously with these various difficulties and I very often recommend her to others.

Dr. Lewis is one of the most knowledgeable doctors I have ever visited in my sixty years. I had a severe right hip strain one year ago, and had seen an orthopedic surgeon who placed me on Prednisone and referred to a physical therapist. The steroid and the PT did not help, so I saw Dr. Lewis and her treatment resulted in rapid improvement in my condition. She taught me how to do my own exercises and use correct posture while walking to heal the strained area. When I applied the principles she taught, the hip pain issue resolved within three days and has not returned. She spent a great deal of time with me at each visit. If you are willing to learn and to practice the techniques she teaches, then her help will turn out to be an incredible experience for you.

We've seen Dr. Judith Lewis for the passed 5 - 7 years for many medical issues for my son with CP. Dr. Judith Lewis has great knowledge and insight. One memorable occasion occurred when we were discussing his gait. I thought if he lifted his knee that would make all the difference. But Dr. Lewis pointed out that it was not the knee, but the movement by the thigh the would give him a smooth gait. She had him focus on using his thigh muscles and that made all the difference. Another time she was able to provide the proper diagnosis to explain why my son unexpectedly passed out one evening. Doctors do not specialize in people with disabilities. Yet with Dr. Lewis, we have a healthcare provider who provides us with that level of care. Dr. Lewis is very easy to work with. If I think the most critical issue to work on is manipulation of his cranial plates to help improve his behavior, then that is what she does. But if she thinks something else will work better,… then she explains why an alternative method might be best. Dr. Judith Lewis is highly respected by the osteopathic community, students, and patients. She has deep concern for her patients. I would and I already have recommend Dr. Judith Lewis to friends and family.

Dr Lewis spends a full hour with her patients! Absolutely astounding the range of services she can provide. I have gotten tremendous help and support in my quest for better health, there is no pill for the hard work. There are however people like this doctor who can treat you without pills, x-rays, or surgery, with the help of 12 years of training and the astonishing part is its all in her head! I walk TALL!! Because of this lady. Education and training are a beautiful thing. These providers are also excessively rare.

I wasn't impressed with Dr. Lewis' avant-garde method of "working muscles long" and "ballerina posture" lectures; especially after a few visits of hearing conflicting information, but I hung in there. Six weeks, five visits, $1,100 of billable hours and I'm in just as much pain as I was before I set foot in her office. I was given ridiculous "muscle building" exercises, but only after a few weeks of insisting that there must be something I can do in between visits to accelerate my progress. Reluctantly, she showed me two exercises (I'm certain this was just to appease me), which I did... I mean there was literally nothing to either exercise, so why not?! I understand isometric exercises (I've been a personal trainer) and these were nothing of the sort. Big fail. I was still hanging on to the dream that this woman, a pioneer in her field of medicine, was going to heal me... Until I got a breakdown of services charged to my insurance company. I don't have any out-of-pocket expense, but… I'm still enraged at the amount of money charged on my behalf when I received absolutely no benefit whatsoever. If I were charging insurance companies absurd fees with minimal effort I wouldn't give my patients any "homework" either; keep that gravy train coming! Actually, that's a big fat lie because I would want to help someone get back to enjoying life and living pain free. Unfortunately, I wasn't bestowed the same courtesy. I've talked to patients of other D.O.s with problems similar to mine and they have a slew of stretches and exercises. My advice; do some research and find a better doctor.
